eduMap provides a fun way to learn the location of countries, states and capitals. Includes multiple maps, high scores and different playing modes.
Always wanted to learn the location of each African country? How about capitals of U.S. states? Maybe you never had a chance to learn all the names of all independent European nations since 1991?
The eduMap widget provides a fun way to learn the location of countries, states and capitals. Select either a full continent or a subsection of countries, then be quizzed on their locations. In the default mode, just hover over a country or state and discover its name, capital, area and population.
Different quiz modes are available to help you lean in a variety of ways. High scores are recorded on your system, based on percentage correct and completion time. 100% SVG based, so you can resize the widget to whatever size is preferred without any quality loss.
Currently Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe, and the USA are available. More maps may be added in the future.
Very nice tool. One small suggestion is that I would change the Republic of Macedonia to FYROM which is the officiall (so far) name of that country. Thanks
@mycottoc - Thank you for that wonderfully relevant link to those excellent 456 edumap related opera skins. Please do tell us more about them.
@chp0522 - Yes, I was hoping someone would mention qqq in these comments. I've always felt it to be the lesser appreciated series of three consonents strung together.
@viduk - Thanks for reminding us all this "A error" is grammatically incorrect, where "AN error" is the correct way of referring to something gone wrong. However, you may want to consider adding a verb and some other words to that sentence if you with to convey some problem with this particular widget.
@mogtaba11 - My your mobile? You're my mobile? I'm your mobile? Are you saying there's a way for no cost television viewing on the mobile version of eduMap? Cool! Thanks for that contribution. Also, it looks like you forgot to add some link to somewhere. Might want to work on that. Oh, and try posting "ttt" or maybe "zzz" next time to make more sense.
@joefrank - Associating one religion with each country isn't particularly useful, I don't think. Though the date of independence might be useful to add at some point, yes.
- Added flag for Taiwan (though not official) - Fixed El Salvador flag - Fixed Serbia flag - Fixed Sao Tome and Príncipe - Fixed location->flag errors for certain Asian countries - Fixed Kazakhstan's information - Fixed New Zealand flag aspect ratio
I have fixed all the recent bugs mentioned in these comments, not including the additional countries. I may choose to do so in at a future date, but it takes quite a bit of extra work to do, so I've just done the real bugs for now.
Expect the next version up here in the next few days. Thanks for your patience, and thanks for all the (positive and negative) feedback!
@Rijk A Dutch translation would be great, thanks in advance!
Only oddity I came across so far is that Malta isn't on the map of Europe! And Vatican City should probably be listed as well, since it's a sovereign city state.
Congratulations, that's a great tool for knowledge and memory training!
I have just found some bugs: - the flag of taiwan does not display - on the Asia map, while playing "location to flag", widget reports "wrong" on Russia, Turkey, Cyprus, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia and Kazakhstan even on good answer. And that's frustrating because this is already diffuclt enougth to remember :-)
Nice widget. A few things I noticed: - The nation of Bahrain is missing. - New Zealand's flag is showing at an incorrect ratio (should be 2x1) - Sao Tome and Príncipe is incorrect! You have swapped it with the Equatorial Guinnean island of "Bioko".
This widget is very great!!! I've never been able to remember where are which country (excepte for a few...). My progress are very important. Now when I read the name of a country in a newspaper, I'm able to see whre it is. Just a suggestion : the association flags <-> countries, would be an interesting direction of development.... Thank you very much for this good piece of software!
I understand there's quite the controversy on the subject, and will rename the country to "Republic of Macedonia" in my next update, until a more official name has been agreed on. Thanks for bringing that to my attention!
Thanks
