The pie-shaped timer is incredibly helpful for people with dyscalculia or ADD or other disorders that impair the ability to sense time. I recommend it strongly for anyone who finds themselves suddenly shocked that they are almost out of time to finish something.
That said, it has problems. When zoomed in, it will only remain visible as long as you don't click anything. As soon as you interact with it, the viewable portion of the widget contracts to the usual size, cutting off the UI that falls outside of that "window." If you try ti minimize it to its pie-only form, it becomes entirely invisible when zoomed in. This is an issue if I want the timer to be big enough for me to see without having to actually sit down at the computer, and considering I want to use it all the time for everything, this is a problem for me.
Also, like people have mentioned, it has no pause.
Finally, the drop-down menu where you can save timer lengths is not intuitive. The plus and minus icons look like they should add or subtract TIME, like how a microwave has a "plus 1 minute" button. Only after clicking on the plus icon - expecting it to add a minute - did I discover that it actually allows you to save the timer.
Still! It's a wonderfully simple and elegant widget in its basic form. I love having the little circle down in the corner of my screen quietly telling time in a way I can actually use. It's better than an analogue clock or egg timer because of the color change.
In addition I would like to recommend to change format of time to "hh:mm:ss" instead of "mm:ss" that is currently used. I really like the user interface and graphical representation of timer when it is minimized.
I like this widget, but in Opera 10.5 some icons (e.g. "+" "-" "minimize") are not displayed correctly. It is also impossible to run more timers at the same time.
Cool, there's a sound now. Fantastic! What about a pop-up window? Would be really helpful, if the sound is turned off (whysoever) and the widget is in "Always below" mode And mybe a longer sound... or even music file integration (wav, mp3, ...)
One of my favorite widgets. However, would not work for me in 9.5 beta2. Now,9.5 final is out. I hope you are still in there, and will upgrade it to work in 9.50 final. Thanks
