Twitter Opera widget V3.22 Jun 5, 2009 10:46:23 AM

Tell the world what you are up to!

Twitter is a global community of friends and strangers answering one simple question: What are you doing?

Note: Passwords are stored base 64 encoded.

Version history:
2.5 - Fixed a memory leak, ability to choose any update frequency (in minutes)
2.4 - RT support and some minor UI tweaks.
2.3 - Direct message support. Support for choosing how many tweets that should be displayed. Some bugs fixed.
2.2 - Option to let the widget get attention when new tweets are available. Disable tweet button when tweet is too long, instead of chopping the text off.
2.1 - Switch to jQuery 1.3. Spotify links supported.
2.0 - Search, find tweets from people nearby, hashtag support, lots of bugfixes and some cosmetic issues fixed.
2.0 beta - New look, widget is resizable, one time login and lots of other changes.
1.6 - Ctrl-Enter submits tweet. Better error handling. Bug fixes.
1.5 - Lots of small changes.
1.4 - Password is stored.
1.3 - Active tab is remembered between sessions.
1.2 - Styling changes to better reflect the site.

Really great gadget

MrGALL, the short answer is: in the future. Can't be more specific than that, but the next major version will support lots of new stuff.

Twitter has launched Retweet API, when it will be implemented in this widget?

I like the widget

I like the widget. Only thing missing is a link shortener! Can you please add it?

By ishan001 , # Nov 14, 2009 5:16:57 AM

experttease, the license permits anyone to modify it and release it. I want to work on it, and I know that it's badly in need of an update, but at the moment I'm busy with other projects unfortunately. :frown:

can you not give it to someone else to develop? It's in need of updating. The new 'lists' feature of twitter is really useful so at the moment I'm not using the widget even though I'd prefer to. Also, widgets have generally been quite slow, but since the widget desktop apps build I've been running them seperately and a hacked twitter widget from Hades32 with native OS chrome is much faster, but in his own words it's an 'ugly hack'.

That widget would be perfect if direct messages were shown on the Recents "tab" I always forget to check my DMs

It's cool, and it works, but on XP, and like too many other apps, it doesn't deal with non-standard (96 dpi) resolution well, with the buttons on the top mostly hidden.

Hey! Using it for several days now. It's really good. Congrats!

Will it ever support faves? Follows/unfollows?

Keep up the good work!

Cheers,
Sebastián

This doesn't seem to be working for me at all. Everytime I try to login, it sends me to an error page right away. After I refresh it keeps saying that it's logging into Twitter, but doesn't actually do anything. I know that I'm putting my info in correctly, so what's the problem?

Great Opera Twitter widget.

As mentioned by others, please consider adding "Follow" support. Also would love to see, "Via @" support...better than retweeting.

Another option to "notify on tweet" could be flash window twice in background...bringing to foreground is too disruptive in most cases, I think.

Plans to add tr.im URL shortener support via their bookmarklets (or any shortener)?

Thanks much!

Is anyone experiencing problems with tweets in Greek (Opera 10 final, Linux)? I've opened a bug for this (http://widgets.opera.com/bug/2311).

By GoofyX , # Sep 16, 2009 7:02:57 PM

Twitter Direct Messages seem to support far more than the usual 140 letters. Can you build in support for that? PS: I guess some decrypter for shortened URLs (bit.ly etc.) is impossible?

This is very helpful to me when my laptop is anchored to a second display. It's not Tweet Deck, but certainly useful for day to day twitter interaction. I would like the option of minimalizing.

It seems to me that the blinking in the statusbar when someone tweets is broken in Opera 10. Also, if I'm trying to change "Tweets displayed" in Opera 10, I have to navigate the dropdown with my up and down arrows on my keyboard and everything else is "frozen" and doesn't react to mouse clicking, ALT+TAB and so on. Really strange.

I prefer the setup firefox has for this type of extention...It can stay in your toolbar at the bottom, you can change the color scheme, and have a sound notification...do you think maybe we could see that in the near future? I only recently switched to Opera, so I'm still trying to figure everything out.

cool widget, well done and all,
but that color ?

By 2manylayers , # Aug 30, 2009 11:42:26 AM

I suggest a follow/unfollow option to users and a autocomplete smart item to friends as type TAB on IRC.
