Twitter Opera widget V3.22 Jun 5, 2009 10:46:23 AM

Tell the world what you are up to!

Twitter is a global community of friends and strangers answering one simple question: What are you doing?

Note: Passwords are stored base 64 encoded.

Version history:
2.5 - Fixed a memory leak, ability to choose any update frequency (in minutes)
2.4 - RT support and some minor UI tweaks.
2.3 - Direct message support. Support for choosing how many tweets that should be displayed. Some bugs fixed.
2.2 - Option to let the widget get attention when new tweets are available. Disable tweet button when tweet is too long, instead of chopping the text off.
2.1 - Switch to jQuery 1.3. Spotify links supported.
2.0 - Search, find tweets from people nearby, hashtag support, lots of bugfixes and some cosmetic issues fixed.
2.0 beta - New look, widget is resizable, one time login and lots of other changes.
1.6 - Ctrl-Enter submits tweet. Better error handling. Bug fixes.
1.5 - Lots of small changes.
1.4 - Password is stored.
1.3 - Active tab is remembered between sessions.
1.2 - Styling changes to better reflect the site.

Found a bug: when clicking RT on a tweet that contains the larger than symbol <, it will appear in the textbox as & l t ; (without spaces). I suppose all HTML entities are not properly decoded.

Firstly: i like your widget. twitter is a pain to use unless it is always in your face and accessible. that said, is there anyway you can shrink the minimum size, it's kinda big and takes up space on my [15 inch] screen. I like to float these kind of windows... just saying a minimized or drop downable would be nice, you know, just the top part and pull down the tweets...

Seondly: it took me a lot of personal strength not to mention how much the person below comes off as a pretentious pomp. oh wait, i did. go refresh your FB page again, maybe someone wrote you something.

just saying.

again, thanks for widget!!!

Great widget; it's my default Twitter client and it's incredibly quick and useful! :-)

Just one feature request: could you please make a "Notify on new mentions" option or something? The current notify option is not really useful to me, because a notification will be there every two minutes anyway since I follow a lot of people. Only having a notification on a new tweet in which I'm mentioned would be a lot more useful. :-)

A very nice widget..

Am on opera 10 beta + unite build for windows..

After i provide my credentials .. it tries to login and gives me this error

"Unable to connect ..."

Does the widget use the settings in the browser or does it try to connect directly ?

Am under a proxy and am guessing thats the issue

Feature request: would it be possible to integrate an URL shortener?
Thanks

@machinesmith, sorry, but yes, this widget is only supported on 9.5+.

*I'm only posting this here because the Bugs page is giving me a `500 Internal server' message*

Hi!

Thanks for the widget! I'm running Win98 with Opera 9.21 (the later versions slows my already doomed computer to something worse than a crawl) and whenever I get this screen (link: http://machinesmith.googlepages.com/twitterwidgeterror.jpg)

For nowI've switched to Twippera which works so far, Is there anyway around? Not sure if this will help but my system is an AMD K6II ~500Mhz with 64MB RAM (and no I can't upgrade yet) Is WIndows 98 out of the question? Awaiting your response thanks!

Great Opera widget for Twitter...! Suggestion: can you retain the last few searches...I have to keep typing in the same text for searches I did earlier...

@Chas4: real-time is not possible. no. Updates every minute can fixed though, some others have suggested that five minutes is too infrequent.

By hzr , # May 14, 2009 6:21:15 PM

Is it possible for real-time or updates every minute?

By Chas4 , # May 14, 2009 6:02:45 PM

Suggestion: I would really like to follow some services, e.g. NRKTrafikkOslo, but only on sunday afternoons. It is a sevice to tell if there are problems on the roads. I would like to be able to tick some twitterers on and off when I need them.

@brianlj, thanks, bug fixed internally.

By hzr , # May 9, 2009 11:50:36 AM

Bug: RT will not copy anything in a tweet past a "

In other words, if you RT a tweet with quotemarks in it, nothing past the first quotemark will be RT'd.

By brianlj , # May 9, 2009 6:22:50 AM

A Minimize button would be a big advantage.
