Twitter is a global community of friends and strangers answering one simple question: What are you doing?
This widget that lets you post new "tweets", follow your friends, see their replies and see the public timeline on Twitter.
Note: This widget will secure your user credentials with HTTPS if supported. Passwords are stored base 64 encoded.
Version history: 1.6 - Ctrl-Enter submits tweet. Better error handling. Bug fixes. 1.5 - Lots of small changes. 1.4 - Password is stored. 1.3 - Active tab is remembered between sessions. 1.2 - Styling changes to better reflect the site. 1.1 - Improved login. 1.0 - Release.
Thanks for all the feedback. Looks like I'll have to fix the remember-login stuff. I initially did not want that as it's insecure to save the credentials in plain text. I'll look into it as soon as I get the time.
It would be awesome if it remembered the username of the last person who signed in, so it could display their activity using their public profile before signing in.
It's posted above that the login issues have been sorted, yet I've just downloaded the widget and I can't seem to log in. I've tried several times throughout the day and I'm completely logged out of the main Twitter site. I've even cleared cookies.
This seems to be a helpful widget, but it seems it doesn't want me to use it. Any helpful tips from those who have overcome the issues?
@hzr: it is ok, for now. But eventually you'll join the dark side. Just kiddin' I think this is a real good widget, I've been trying all sorts of ways to have a portable app for twitter. And now with this I have a widget in my portable version of Opera (MarcOpera4usb version, I MUST add). Thank you very much for taking time and answer.
@helas: thanks for the critique. I've also noticed the padding stuff. It is now on the todo list, and will be fixed for the next release. I'm not sure I agree about the "What are you doing?" field on the Follow tab though. I hope it's ok anyway
what I'd like, if I may say it here, is to have the "what are you doing" baloon even when one's on "Follow", maybe a smaller one. I'm so glad I found this, anyway: up until now I had twitter in a webpanel and wasn't really happy with it. (Maybe a bit more of space between text and scroll bar would be nice.)

A new version is out. The biggest change is that the password now is stored.

I'll look into it as soon as I get the time.

The login stuff is probably sorted now. Let us know if there are more problems related to this.
