Scripts of the World V1.0 Jun 6, 2007 1:48:01 PM

Write in any language or script on your computer.

This widget will allow you to choose keyboards from around the world, and type in exactly those characters and symbols you want. You can type by choosing the buttons with the mouse, or by mapping the characters to keys on your keyboard.

You can change any keyboard to your liking, and create new ones if you have special requirements.

If you would like to update or publish a new keyboard for this widget, please head over to VirtualKeyboard.

Note Unless you have fonts installed to show international characters, you may only see empty squares.

Great! A very useful widget!

kaens: Great that you are working on a Farsi keyboard, please upload it once it is ready.

I am not an expert in Farsi, I don't know how the vocal diacritics are supposed to show up. Some characters are not supposed to be visible unless they are attached to a preceeding character.
I find that typing a single diacritic only, it will not show up on a button, but if typing anything else than a diacritic first, it will show up. Is this expected with Farsi diacritics, or is this a bug in Opera? I can do some investigations, but it is always good to hear from someone familiar with the language. EDIT: Seems like a widget bug - but I'd still like more information

In any case, for now you can make the diacritics show up in two ways:
1. Use another character first, such as _
2. Use the name of the diacritic as a button label, "diacritic: ٌ" (The default astrology keyboard has a few such buttons.)

Yes, the interface looks ugly in 9.5. I'll get it fixed, thanks for reporting.
Yes, those things are tabs, you can try them in 9.23 to see how they are supposed to work. They work for me in Opera 9594. Are you using XP or another OS?
On the last tab you can set up what keyboard mapping you are usi

When trying to make Farsi keyboard, I had trouble writing in the vocal diacritics... they just don't show on the buttons.

These: ً ٌ ٍ َ ُ ِ ّ

Also, the interface layout looks broken on the configuration page (using Opera 9.50 alpha 20071012) -- if those things that look like tabs are tabs, i can't use them. And the latin keyboard seems to disregard the fact that there's "`~" key to the left of "1!" key, guessing if reading the keyboard layout/scan codes can help and if it's possible to do in a widget at all... Without those, things won't work for the people who really need this widget.

zoligrg89: Those two characters are not in any of the predefined keyboards. You may add them to any keyboard, or create your own keyboard.

I cannot possibly know all of the scripts of the world myself, so I rely on yourself and other users to create new keyboards and upload them. I am aware that most of the Eastern Latin Extensions are missing, including Hungarian extensions.

Please consider making a keyboard with those characters, and uploading it, so that other users can find it. It can always be changed and expanded on later.

Where is the Hungarian Ű , ű from the Latin characters?
