Google Translator V2.0 Jun 13, 2008 4:33:50 AM

Google Translator. Translate text directly in the widget or translate a webpage.

Google Translator uses a theme based off of Gmail's theme! You can use this widget to convert excerpts of text and entire web pages to and from multiple languages.

Please take note of the following:
* This widget will translate only the languages that can be translated by Google's own translation service. Language options will be updated as Google adds more language translation options to their service.
* This widget is for Opera 9.5+. If you need want to use this widget on versions of Opera previous to Opera 9.5, you can use the following widget which will not be regularly updated.

Great widget. The only issue I have with it is that the widget is not resizable. It would be great to be able to view more text without having to scroll.

Why on this page under screenshot we have "V2.0", but widget it self write "version:1.42"?
And why it not remember open/close status of options, if it part of main window? :smile:
(I think it is not an options... Its a controls...)

I just uploaded a beta version with some requested features. Read the text at the top to see all of the changes. It is not complete, but should be cleaned up soon. Lets here to suggestions and comments!

love this widget! helps me out a good bit with my French speakin' friends .

By crashunderride, # Mar 19, 2008 3:33:59 AM

great widget..
i use it a lot.
but i see that its didn't updated since april 19 2007 ??? why? the idea is so great..
And I have some suggestions (if you will make next version sometime):

1) a more big translation box, cause when you translate big text its inconvenient to scroll the text all the time. wiil be great that the user should resize it..

2) 'clear' button to clear the text

3) more languages (i've checked the google translate page, and found there translate languages that isn't here..)

4) it will remember what language i used latest, then when i'm opening it' the language will be ready in the listbox...

5) the feature with one button click to change the translated language. for example i'm translating english to russian, and i want to translate now immediatly from russian to english, i will click the button and it will convert the translation between them, instead of opening the listbox everytime.

thanks for the great widget...

Good work!
Only it would be a good idea to make it more, otherwise inconvenient to use.

(Translated from Russian into English with Google)

Definitively a must have.

Only one dissatisfaction : It can't be resized, so with a big translated text, reading is frustrating. Hopefully, I success to modify your widget to my needs (50%+ width & 70%+ height) :smile:

Great work ! Exactly the widget I need :smile:

Hi, it would be great when you would make that it remembers which languages you last wanted to translate and also a button that switches vice versa. Like if you want to translate : english-> french, with this button you make french->english, because it's frustrating to always use the list. It would help those who are beginners!

@Opera 9.5 users
I have an updated version specifically for Opera 9.5 users due to some width dimensions changing on some of the input fields between Opera 9.2x and Opera 9.5. You can get this latest widget here..

@dembler
Thanks, those are some really good suggestions! However, #2 is not exactly clear to me. Could you please explain this in a bit more detail please. I'm not sure that what you are talking about is possible with a widget, but I may be completely lost on this one.

@Everyone
Thanks to everyone else who has been supportive! I've been very busy with school lately and have not had a chance to update it much, however, the semester is over and I should have plenty of time. First things first. You can count on seeing a lot more languages in the list to translate between. The widget in it's current form is only as capable as googles own translation page. However, I can rework the backend to translate between languages that google does not offer by having it translate to one language and then to the final language. My only problem with this at the moment is the fact that these translations will loose a gre

Very good. DO you know where can I get a Indonesian translator?

By yeeliberto, # Dec 8, 2007 10:44:46 PM

Will you be adding more languages in the future?

It looks great. :smile:

By SoundOfVision, # Nov 13, 2007 9:13:38 PM

Your translator is the best I have seen!
Tanks!

By Bkbral, # Oct 27, 2007 2:15:14 PM

Thanks, I needed that!

By eestlane, # Oct 10, 2007 7:24:22 PM

In GoogleBar for Firefox, I could just click on a button to translate a webpage to my language. I didn't even have to select what language the web page was in... it figured it out on its own. Worked the majority of the time. Not only that, but links I clicked on within the web page would continue to get translated as I browsed. This really sux by comparison.
