A great concept. As others have pointed out, however, making the zones accurate is a must. Doing this would be a lot of work on the developer's part, I know, but an inaccurate clock defeats the whole purpose of having a clock.

Time zones scale is absolutely wrong. For example, Kamchatka peninsular does NOT have two time zones.

Great widget, but I believe the time zones are off by one hour... When you reset the widget it is not centered around +0 but +1, isn't it? Or am I wrong? Let me know, I am not sure...

I found this very useful for quickly tracking the time differences between our offices.

Edit: Noticed that the country borders makes this widget slightly wrong sometimes, i.e. comparing Norway and Japan adds 2 hours.

That is pretty cool guys, butyou do realize it's completely flawed - thetimezones too often follow country borders, for convenience.

"Could you make
it 50% smaller ?"

A graphical interface like this
needs to be large.

By genevanrodent@gmail.com , # Aug 15, 2007 6:47:14 PM

you can press - to make it smaller

By me27 , # Mar 1, 2007 10:12:36 PM

Well, I'm in Nepal so: +4h15...this widget is simply...too simple as Dantesoft says!

By Maulkin , # Mar 1, 2007 6:38:51 PM

: I know about the complexity of time zones but I'am too busy to hack that code

: I will make smaller version .. just for you  but it will take a while.

By haskellHacker , # Mar 1, 2007 5:54:24 PM

nice and quite useful. Could you make it 50% smaller?

By Think , # Mar 1, 2007 2:12:11 PM

Nice widget. Actually it's a little more complicated

<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UTC%2B0" title="UTC+0"><img src="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/7/71/Time_zones_of_Europe.svg/180px-Time_zones_of_Europe.svg.png"/>

My suggestions:
  • Support for ½H offsets (e.g. Iran)
  • Show the actual timezone name (e.g UTC+3:30) and/or countries
  • Memorize the last user setting on widget restart
  • Support for DST
  • Maybe add a day/night overlay
  • Maybe add a countdown timer :D

Cheers, and keep up the good work!
