Tool to create and manage unique, secure passwords.
One Password To Rule Them All! Generate and recall secure passwords.
Using the same password on multiple websites, or storing passwords (even if they're encrypted), is often insecure. However, it's difficult to remember a unique password for each site.
PasswordMaker helps you generate new, uncrackable passwords. Moreover, passwords aren't stored anywhere--they are calculated over and over again as they're needed--so there's nothing to be lost, hacked, or stolen!
This would be so much better if it ran as an extension instead of as a widget, like in Chrome... Is that possible? It's always a pain to bring a widget to the forefront to use it!
I'm sorry for how long it's taken me to patch this to work with the latest version of Opera. I've just fixed the bug and submitted it-- it should be available for download really soon once it get approved by the Opera guys.
Thanks to everyone who brought this problem to my attention. I left the world of web development a while back to pursue a career in astrophysics, and completely forgot about this widget. But it's working now .
The Firefox and Chrome versions of this are awesome. Hopefully this one can become just as good. In the mean time, the online (100% JavaScript that runs purely on your machine even though it's a web page) version is really excellent as well.
PasswordMaker is completely open source and the online version is completely transparent because it's just JavaScript. You can actually just copy the html/JS doc to your own machine and run it from there if you so desire.
One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them, One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.
This is the first time I've actually wanted to use a widget!
One suggestion: Instead of/as well as storing the URL of a site in a profile, is it possible to create a profile where no URL is stored, and have the Widget automatically pick up the current URL from the active tab of Opera?
So you could 1. Go to log-in page of site 2. Run the widget - widget displays the URL it has captured, so you can check it's the correct site. 3. Enter master password 4. Widget inserts password back into Opera (?)
This would save having a profile for each site, or having to copy/paste the URL into the widget and then copy/paste the password back into Opera.
EDIT: Since writing the above, I've looked into what the Firefox widget does, and they encourage people to have a profile per web-site. However they do have a feature that compares the current URL with the profiles and attempts to auto-populate the user name and password fields. This would be a great addition to this widget!
I have no idea if any of the above is possible with Widgets...
