Thanks for your comments! :smile:

: I was aware that the tasks for the last few days would show again when importing the settings into a new version, but I didn't consider this a bug. It would've been easy to change this by exporting and importing just one more setting. I didn't at first consider this setting that essential that I included it amongst the exported settings, but I'll maybe change that in the next version.

About the 'NE proposal': I was looking at it, but I didn't find any really elegant way to hook this into the current code. It wouldn't be very hard to do, but it's not as easy as just adding a line or two of program code either. I think maybe I'll add a 'day view' before I add this.

: Yes, I've noticed this bug. It will be fixed in the next version. In the meanwhile you can fix it by adding this code to the modification in the Advanced Settings tab:
var ol=languageScriptOnLoad;languageScriptOnLoad=function(){locale_smonthname2=null;ol()}

About the latest version feeling slower than the previous one - I haven't noticed this myself. I can't really see why that should be either. The speed will oftentimes be dependent on how many other tabs/widgets you have op

Very nice widget, very practical. However when I select my country (Spain) the names of the months in the scroll-down menu at the left top change all to "undefined", even though when I go to the translation tool those fields are properly translated. And this latest version feels slower than the previous one.

Hello rkm,

just a minor bug to report for the latest version: After importing my previous settings I was remembered of the tasks from the last few days (since 1. January) and had to click them "OK". I am not sure if I had to click away more of them when the year was older...

btw: I like the "keep on first screen" feature. This way I always can be sure that the widget will be visible, no matter where I use my Opera next time :smile:

: I have updated the translation tool now to deal with this, and the next version of the widget will be able to use different forms of the month names.

You can go here to edit the month names for the display of date:
http://files.myopera.com/rkm/timeanddate/translation/index.html?lang=ru&p=28
and here for the dropdown menu:
http://files.myopera.com/rkm/timeanddate/translation/index.html?lang=ru&p=176

rkm, your tool for translation is really great! Respect!

BTW, what I have found that there is a need for two forms of months' name for correct Russian translation.
One form is for month dropdown menu:
январь
февраль
март
...
Another is for display of date:
1-ое января
14-ое февраля
8-ое марта
...
So, what we can do?
I'm pretty shure that some other languages also have different months' endings...

: Thanks for your suggestions. I have been thinking about an 'Advanced Settings'-tab myself. It will probably be implemented in some future version.

The problem if I were to make it such that one could choose Country and Language independently, or could choose more than one country at a time (if the language isn't english), is the translations of the holidays and observances. There are so many of them, that it would be quite an amount of work to translate all of them to all the languages that are available. If it wasn't for this, this functionality would be quite easy to implement.

Would it possible for you to go to:
http://files.myopera.com/rkm/timeanddate/translation/index.html?lang=ru
and correct the russian translation for me?

By rkm , # Dec 9, 2007 8:05:58 PM

rkm, thanks for help.
Maybe there is should be Advanced tab for some useful options that left for advanced users. At least these three seems useful to me:
"alarmRepeat" : "true"
If you don't want the alarm sound to be repeating, you should change true to false.

"alarmRepeatInterval" : "60"
Here you can set the number of seconds between each time the alarm sound is played.

"restrainPosition" : "true"
If the value is true, the widget position is restrained so it is kept inside the screen space of the primary screen. If you want to move the widget outside this area, you should change true to false.

Also it would be nice to have ability to:
  • choose Country and Language independently
  • choose couple countries at the same time (personally, I would then select USA and Ukraine)
  • choose aligment of widget, i.e. to which side text is growing (can be useful if you placed your widget side by side with other widget(s))

One more thing: Russian translation of months should not have first capital letter, and have different ending. For example:
Wrond: 7-ое Декабрь
Right: 7-ое декабря

Thanks for your comments :smile:

: I'll consider it. Others have also requested other features such as a week view and a day view. I'll see what I can do.

: Yes, the newer versions restrict the position of the widget to inside the screen area of the primary screen. You can turn this off by setting 'restrainPosition' to 'false'. See here:

I just upgraded from version 1.05 to 1.26.
Now I can't move widget to my second display... Known problem?

This is a great calender I have some ideas for the next up date. Give it a feature where it can spab 3 mo. all on the same screen. Like one of those calenders in your office where it has the next and previouse months. The feature that you have where you can put events on certain dates ... great Idea.

This is by far my favourite widget of all time.

Well done!

Not annoying at all, BurninLeo:smile: It's a good suggestion.

It shouldn't be too hard to implement. But I wonder what to do if the title is very long (guess I'll better just truncate it), or if it is many events that start at the exact same time (maybe display one at a time in rotation, once per minute).

By rkm , # Oct 30, 2007 4:31:39 PM

Hello,

the annoying guy is back with another idea for the todo-list :wink:
I think this would be an easy one:

When T&D is minimized, the current date is displayed. I just appreciated to customize this one. But what about showing the next event? I think about another code (e.g. NE like TC, dd, MMM, yyyy) that says: "15:00 team meeting".

Greetings
BurninLeo

Great widget. However, in romanian, there are some translation errors with fuzzy clock:
var locale_sfuzzyhour = new Array(
"doisprezece",
"unu",
"doua",
"trei",
"patru",
"cinci",
"sase",
"sapte",
"opt",
"noua",
"zece",
"unsprezece",
"doisprezece",
"unu",
"doua",
"trei",
"patru",
"cinci",
"sase",
"sapte",
"opt",
"noua",
"zece",
"unsprezece"
);

var locale_sfuzzytime = new Array(
"ora %TH%",
"%TH% si cinci",
"%TH% si zece",
"%TH% si un sfert",
"%TH% si douazeci",
"%TH% si douazeci si cinci",
"%TH% si jumatate",
"%NH% fara douazeci si cinci",
"%NH% fara douazeci",
"%NH% fara un sfert",
"%NH% fara zece",
"%NH% fara cinci"
);

Good idea, BurninLeo! I'll see what I can do.

Hi rkm,

the notifiy-about-updates feature is working well in the latest version. A bit too well for my personal taste. Since there were several minor updates (1.251 to 1.253) that I did not want to install (requiring data export/installation/data import/deleting nomail data from opera file), I had to turn notification off at all. However I would like to be notified of further updates.

So what about a "Do not notify my for this update any more" option in the update notification function?

By BurninLeo , # Sep 24, 2007 10:57:01 AM

"I've made a change in the latest versions. Now you can turn off holidays by choosing None in the Country drop-down list in the Settings window instead."

Works like a charm. Thanks again.

By rghammo , # Sep 4, 2007 2:03:11 AM

: Thanks for the correction. It is fixed in the latest version.

Horse: Thanks for that. It's a good start. But if you want to make a complete translation, take a look at:
http://files.myopera.com/rkm/timeanddate/translation/index.html?lang=ga

: That's true. I probably should have mentioned it somewhere, but I've made a change in the latest versions. Now you can turn off holidays by choosing None in the Country drop-down list in the Settings window instead.
