My Opera Explorer V1.62 Jan 7, 2007 1:51:44 AM

As support for http auth came in 9.1, I've been working on a widget that utilizes this, this is it!

Features so far:

1: Blog posting(blog page opens when sucessfully posted), other options button allows tags and if you share it or not.
2: File Explorer: Browse through your files hosted on my-opera, clicking on images renders them in the widget, also some text file formats work too.
3.Account stats, shows visitors to blog and album, affiliate points and total space used.

Enjoy

Changes in 1.1: View previous blog posts through widget, click Add to begin posting a post
Changes in 1.15: Now works with any 9 version. If version is under 9.1, login using xmlhttprequest post, else use standard xmlhttprequest http auth. Removed useless opera.postError commands.
Changes in 1.2: Icon positioning fix, testing messages feature, just click PM to view last messages, click Msg to begin messaging.
Changes in 1.25: Viewing of blog posts are parsed through actual blog page now, so group blogs and private posts in theory should work now. Positioned logo near buttons, clicking opens community site, placed indicator in a more global position. Placed PM button near the rest of the buttons.

Nice idea, although resizing would indeed be nice. Please bear in mind that I have only begun to toy with widgets as a user and have absolutely no idea of the workload behind them (well, I have one, but not backed by any knowledge of the process, so...), so feel free to dismiss this.

Thanks a lot, then.

Great releases, nice new features. Seems to be very stable and even better usable now.

I have three feature requests
  1. get rid of the horizontal scrollbars on PM and Files. On PM I suppose it is because of my long nick (ResearchWizard's) which moves the button on PM behind the right border (also in Blog but without horizontal scrollbar)
  2. have an update-functionality inside the Widget (I always wondered how that could work)
  3. Add the page "Watched items" (http://my.opera.com/{username}/news/)

two small bugs
  1. Post counting is broken now - it seems the buttons Edit and X are counted as own entry every time. I think they are kind of in the way on the overview page anyway. Is it possible to have them only when a post is expanded?
  2. I styled my welcome blog post with inline css in html code: <div style="..."> and set the colors there. In the widget text and background is displayed black and therefore it is not readable. Nothing major for me and I don't think a lot of people use HTML at all in their postings and even less CSS.

You are doing a great job - I'd suppose this is incredibly lots of work ...

Thats a bug as it seems that when restarting opera the cookie used for login is deleted by opera, I'll update, so login details are stored in widget storage method.

On the next day the widget showed only the red background (after hibernation of WinXP including Opera). Reopening the Widget and Opera doesn't help. I downloaded again and it worked again. Very strange. Do you need some of my local files?

Great, with 1.3 I can login again
Loading seems to be quite faster now

Nice to see the image files inside the widget. HTML is opened in the browser (causing high CPU and a remaining loading image). With .CSS and .ini nothing happens except for the loading image circling. The probably unknown .tsk (for the PDA themes) is followed by the download or open dialog.

There is a horizontal scroll-bar on PM. The buttons are partly hidden on the right side (PM-Msg + Blog-Add). I think both is caused by the vertical scroll-bar that is shown for my pages.
I would place the "Log Out" button on the settings page.

Do you need something special to be tested?

So far I only check the rss feed of the blog, sometime when I get this login error fixed, I'll get the blog from the blog url and try and parse from there.

How hard would it be to check a group blog?

I would still be using my login credentials, but the URL woudl be different.

I would love to monitor my group this way.
