A widget for showing TV Listings, pulled from Zap2it.com
A real-time TV guide for the United States, pulled from zap2it.com. Uses AJAX to provide nearly instantaneous (depending on your connection speed of course) scrolling across time, no reload required!
Other features: -pick your specific location and provider - not just national listings -only display your favorite channels -custom color background for different genre types -open a single channel up in a new window -click on a program and view a popup with program details -search listings (new window)
Changelog: v2.6: Time header floats on top, scroll position maintained when you advance back and forward in time. v2.4: minor fix - load next and previous time blocks on startup. v2.2: misc fixes to comply with zap2it changes. v2.0: fix to comply with some zap2it changes, add version check.
I downloaded the latest version (1.22) of this widget and had to customize the new version. As an aside, it would be nice if Opera supported updating an existing widget so that configuration information isn't lost and it would also be nice if the "Widget properties" pop-up window launched by the "Properties..." menu item displayed the version number. But my real concern is the customization of the latest version didn't work. When I tried to enter my postal code (which worked fine when I customized the previous version of this widget), the result was very strange behaviour. I suspect that zap2it may be deliberately trying to find ways to undermine the functionality of your widget, probably in order to force users of their web site to view their ads (which would suggest that they haven't heard of ad-blocking).
Oh, this is good. My wife asks me all the time, "when is [whatever] on?" And I'm not a fan of hunting down listings and weeding through all the crap. This widget will save me so much time!
The part where you add/remove channels isn't working, and the view of the grid is just a mishmash of centered text. Nice idea, but the presentation needs improvement.
v1.21: I'm not sure what happened, but somehow the v1.2 code was all messed up, including not having the change (multiple channels) that I specifically uploaded it for, and an unrelated bug that screwed up the time value.
If you're currently on 1.2, I recommend you download the widget again. As always, let me know if you have any problems.
I love this idea, but I can't get it to load the grid after the first time I used it. Also the "display favorite channels only" does not work for me. I would love to use this...any suggestions? Windows XP sp2 Opera v. 9.02 Thanks! It's a great idea.
I am unable to get the "display favorite channels only" feature to work. Also, would it be possible to highlight and save certain program listings to a file (I set up and tape most of my favorite shows in advance)?
Yeah, that's something I thought about originally, but decided to get it finished first and then add that in later, since I was just copying that add/remove functionality from another widget. It shouldn't take too long, probably sometime in the next week or so..

Yes it could be improved, but it is very good for starters!

Does anyone else get a 100% CPU usage freeze when retrieving listings? I'm using O9.10 on Windows. Could this be the same problem episteuo had?
