A widget for showing TV Listings, pulled from Zap2it.com
A real-time TV guide for the United States, pulled from zap2it.com. Uses AJAX to provide nearly instantaneous (depending on your connection speed of course) scrolling across time, no reload required!
Other features: -pick your specific location and provider - not just national listings -only display your favorite channels -custom color background for different genre types -open a single channel up in a new window -click on a program and view a popup with program details -search listings (new window)
Changelog: v2.6: Time header floats on top, scroll position maintained when you advance back and forward in time. v2.4: minor fix - load next and previous time blocks on startup. v2.2: misc fixes to comply with zap2it changes. v2.0: fix to comply with some zap2it changes, add version check.
i have a problem with new version 2.6,for some experiment i change the provider and i cannot find my previous provider. i remember my area code, and i cannot understand why my provider dont exist, becouse i know it was. i check on the webside and i think it webside problem
Don't want ppl to think this widget ain't workin'. I forgot to delete the old version of the widget, so most of the problems were me using the old version. The only problem I'm having with the new version is the blank block on the next time frame, but only after the initial loading of the program list. ANY refresh of said list fixes the problem, so a fairly minor issue.
I spoke too soon re: the blank block problem. Choosing a custom start time (e.g., app starts at 3 PM; manually set it to 6 PM and load from there) does NOT then produce a blank block when using the right side border advance. My bad.
Odder still, manually selecting the CURRENT starting point (so, loads at 3 PM; manually choose 3 PM and then click the arrow) reloads the listing, and then the right side border advance works. Go figure. So, workaround = simply clicking the arrow next to the custom time menu to reload the initial listings, and it's all good.
The Search function works pretty well, too. Enough software testing for today. Thanks for the update :-)
While the latest release fixes the problem of not retrieving listings, I've noticed the following problems:
* No channels listed from which to create a list of Favorites
* Advancing the time to the next frame by clicking the right side border invariably brings up a blank block; clicking again to go one block further into the future brings up listings. The workaround is to select a new start time and click the arrow to load from that point. Of course, clicking the right side border to advance to the next time block again brings up a blank. Odd and a bit annoying, but at least listings are showing up.
Another bug:
Clicking on linked items (program names and channels in the Channels column) does nothing. I assume that's related to these features:
-open a single channel up in a new window -click on a program and view a popup with program details
Great tool that make me to keep Opera at all cost. For those in quebec all the listing is in french. ( Traduction) Un outil indispensable pour ceux qui aiment regarder la TV. La programmation de Bell et vidéotron sont disponibles en français.
Just a post to confirm the reported bug. I can change all the settings - most importantly selecting my cable provider - but the main page is stuck on "loading..."
Hope this gets fixed, as the potential usefulness of this widget is huge.
Hm, I hadn't noticed that because I'm on Central. I thought that meant I had fixed it (used to be forced to Eastern), but apparently not. I'll look into it..
It seems to get the time zone wrong for me - I see a mention of a time zone issue in the comments, but no details. Anything I can do to fix? Otherwise looks great, thanks!

re: Zap2It data, I've found in the past that delivery could be hit or miss. Some days it'd load, some not so much.

Otherwise, I really like it. It's a lot faster and friendlier than tvguide.com. I can do the arithmetic if it means I don't have to use tvguide.com.
