Visuals are cool, but it's useless since Opera always tells you if there's a new version AND keeping a widget on your screen all the time to tell you that you need to update or that you are already surfing with the latest version is total waste of screen

It's kind of redundant; Opera automatically checks for updates upon startup.

i like it, it is smart

I would like it smaller, and in addition is not very useful because Opera checks everytime it starts and me too.

I don't know if Opera has an xml file containing the current weekly build or not. For those of you who really want to know what the latest build is, go to http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Template:Latest_preview_release/Opera&action=history and click on the RSS feed in your address bar. You could also go to my.opera.com/desktopteam and just view the top of the page, which tells you the latest build. Maybe someone wants to parse that page for the current build (that's a lot of work and can break easily)

This widget does not work properly under openSUSE 10.2 KDE. It displays a black frame around the widget. I have seen this on some other widgets as well.

I often use the new builds from the Desktop Team, if this widget could make a quick check for this in particular that would be great.

agree..looks very good..
5 stars for design
but minus 3 stars for function(useless)

Wow, this widget may be useless at the moment, but it sure does look great with the new Windows Vista Theme :D. Hopefully it will be useful so I can use it in the future. Great visual work! Small and does exactly what it is intended to do.

Maybe they're building something... :D

Unless this checks for betas/weeklies (which I seriously doubt), this is just another waste-of-time widget with functionality Opera already has.

By Strife767 , # Dec 12, 2006 6:01:20 PM

Does not Opera check automatically on startup whether or not there is a new version?
