Unreal Soccer is a fast-paced strategic action game of association football with simple rules. The teams are not quite what you'd expect; there are pirates, ninjas, robots, space aliens, and more. As you beat higher-rated teams, they become available for you to use against even tougher opponents.
* Localization support. * Added Japanese localization (available in Options if not detected from web browser settings). * UI graphics (for team select screen) is now preloaded. * Fixed bug with the referee putting the game in kick-off even though the ball hadn't been fetched and properly placed yet, or not properly placing the ball after a goal. * Fixed a rare crash when the game thought that the referee caused a kick-in. * Players can no longer go into the opponents' half of the field during kick-off. * The goalie can no longer catch higher-flying balls than the other players. * If a kick-off or a kick-in takes more than 20 seconds, the referee will now call off the kick-off/kick-in and put the ball in general play. * The goalie should now be much less prone to running far away from his
There seem to have been one more bug to weed out after all... Setting the src attribute of an iframe when running as a widget appears unreliable, so I've hacked around it now. Didn't bump the version number though, so if you're interested in reading the instructions in Japanese, download again to make sure you have the latest one.

Bugfixes and localization... I think most bugs are weeded out now. The next version will have more features!
* The game now runs less jumpy on slow computers, although it will still run a bit slower. Slow computers will also no longer experience more bugs than faster ones. * Fixed compatibility with Firefox (1.5 and 2.0). If you're using a slow computer and find the game running a bit too slow in Opera, you should try running it in Firefox. You can play the game at http://henrikfalck.com/unrealsoccer/ * Demo Mode: continuously run computer vs computer five-minute games (available in Options). * The widget now checks for updates and informs you if you're running the latest version or if an update is available. * A computer player who receives the ball will now hesitate a little. * The referee will now end the game also when the ball is out of play. * Description and stats are shown also for teams you cannot select. * The goalie for the four most tactical teams will more often try to catch the ball when it gets close to the goal. * The goalie is now less prone to running into his own goal while carrying the ball (the other players still have an issue, albeit less grave, with this). * The Vikings and The Script Kiddies will now play very offensively. * Non-selected pl
WidgetLab: your computer is too slow. I'm currently working on optimizing the game. But unfortunately profiling has shown most of the time is spent drawing to the canvas, so we'll have to wait until opera's canvas implementation gets faster... or Moore's Law catches up with us.
* You can now choose game time - 2, 5, 10, 20, and 30 minutes' games are available. In order to play against higher-rated teams the game time must be at least 10 minutes. (thanks Mystik for the idea) * The referee won't drop the ball for kick-off until all players are on their respective side of the field, and all players on the team that's not doing the kickoff are keeping a distance from the ball * The referee won't drop the ball for kick-in until all players on the opposing team are keeping a distance from the ball * During kick-off and kick-in, players on the opposing team can't go within a certain distance of the ball * You no longer lose control of your players after a goal * The overtime is now much shorter, so games should not take much longer than the chosen game time * Game time starts after initial kick-off (thanks Mystik) * The ball will now properly hit and bounce off the goal posts * Only highly tactical AI teams will now shoot directly at the goal from kickoff * The goalie can now catch higher-flying balls than the other players * The Robots should now be a little easier to beat * A certain interval must now pass after a kic
I beat the Script Kiddies 9-8 with the ninjas, Yeahhhhh! And with less merit, I beated the Pirats 16-0 with the script kiddies
Some more suggestions: -When you are beginning a game, randomize the team that begin (not always you) -When the script Kiddies are opponents, their name go under the score line, maybe widen the space for the team name.(try to play with them as opponents, you'll see what I mean) -I have also found a bug, when you are restarting a game after having played once -or more- I will first see a red round in the same place that I used in the previous game one of the players but there is no player in this place. A little bug that make no arm, but a bug nevertheless.
For the tournament idea, I suggest you to copy the frame of the Unreal Tournament 2004 single mode. (If you don't know them I can try to explain them briefly)
Mystik, thanks a lot for your feedback! I'll try to get as many improvements into the next version as time allows me... I'll reply to each of your points, also to get my own thoughts down in black.
-When you start playing you MUST begin by passing the ball to an other player (Otherwise there will be a f****** robot that will straight put a goal when they have the ball in the middle...really nasty )
Yes that's clearly a problem... I was thinking it shouldn't be possible for the opposing team to go within a certain radius of the ball during kickoff and kickin. Also, it should be very uncommon to be able to score a goal from the center line when the defense is in place. I was considering as a quick fix to decrease ball acceleration, but since the AI is tuned to the current speed I didn't wanna fr*ck things up right before release...
-Between two goals, I would really like -and expect- to be able to access my players and place them where they need to be (In the middle as the f***** always shoot straight to the goal )
Yeah I agree... my idea was that the teams should have to be on their own side of the field before the referee drops the ball for kickoff. But I didn't have ti
