A translator widget based on the altavista babelfish translation service. Makes it easy to add new translation engines and special characters. Features:
- Keyboard shortcut for translate button.
- Easy switch between translation direction.
- Easy change of langauges.
- Detects whether a URL has been entered and submits the webpage to be translated if appropriate.
- Special character popup for some languages.
- 'Minimised' and 'maximised' mode.
Credit to shoust for doing it first, but there were a couple of extra accessibility features I wanted, so I made my own.

Hmmm is about all I can say about this one.
I keep getting an error window when I try to launch the installer.
But that's ok the multi translator I know works well which is the
other widgett ... BTW multitranslator yes even has russian to english
visa versa ... should try that one and don't panic over this one LOL.

There is free program called Tagalog Translator which works well for indivudual words and some phrases.

Nice widget. I use it for IM'ing with my girlfriend in China.

Have been searching for something that will translate Tagalog (Philippines) to English. The major translator sites dont list it...

thank you soo much i really needed it u c im moving to paris to go to collage ( and my boyfriend is french ) sooo it really helps... is there any way i can get this on my phone????

@eghbal: This widget already has russian to english. When you select "English and Russian", you can now translate either way. Type something in english on the left side to translate to russian. Type something in russian on the right side to translate to english.

Works like a dream! A+

@toto99 find your widget folder (WinXP -> C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Opera\Opera 9\profile\widgets) -> find o-translate-1_0.zip -> extract it -> you will see a O-Translate folder -> open the folder -> select all files inside the folder, right click and zip it all with the name o-translate-1_0.zip and put it on your widget profile.

edit: you should edit your widgets.dat too, open it on notepad or something, find C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Opera\Opera 9\profile\widgets\o-translate-1_0.zip\O-Translate or something similar and delete O-Translate and it should look like this : C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Opera\Opera 9\profile\widgets\o-translate-1_0.zip\

It should work, do not zip the folder but all the contents of the folder.

Sorry about not replying to your bugs in so long, just been doing other things I guess. I'm getting close to finishing the next version; it should be out in under a couple of weeks with the bugs fixed hopefully. Until then, hold tight

When I close opera and open the browser again the widget "o-translate" doesn't work.
@ splondike: Can you please fix the bug?

It doesn't work for me, either. The translate "button" isn't even there, and hitting Ctrl + Enter as instructed also doesn't work. Cute widget, but needs work.

I think beacuse the babelfish translation company is not working for some days or weeks, i don't know. That's what I think.
But the widget is working.

I can't launch his widget anymore, I download again and it works, but when I close opera and reopen again it doesn't work. This problem lasting for last two weeks or more.

@umbamf: What do you mean about the translations not working? The widget doesn't function, or the translation isn't very good? If it's the first, then try some other language and see if it works (it might be some problem with your connection; works on mine). If the second, well, the translations are done by altavista's babelfish, so that can't be changed unless you find a better online translation engine.

This Widget seems like it will be quite usefull once some kinks get worked out. I can't seem to get the English to Japanese to work, or for that matter vice versa. If someone could please get this fixed I would be greatly appreciated. I currently live in JAPAN, and hahaha this would make it so much easier when chatting with the local friends I make online. =P

there is a mistake in the link in the config or about button, the babel translation link has

and it should be
