SimAquarium is an aquarium simulation game - you can buy and sell fish, aquarium sceneries (plants, rocks etc), lighting and other things for your aquarium!
You can feed your fish, play with them and do much more. To earn money you have to breed and sell fish - there is 28 different species with different characteristics, some of the fishes are very rare. With more money you can buy bigger an
The Zebrafish fight too much, but they made me a lot of money in the beginning. They reproduced so fast ... same with the southern platyfish, but they didn't fight *at all*.
I also liked the guppy's, and am currently trying to save up for the Angelfish. (Read Iragael's post, below...it was very helpful.).
This Widget is pretty neat once you get the hang of it. Unfortunately after playing around with it for a couple evenings it started crashing my Opera... I ended up removing it. It sucked too because i was starting to really get the hang of it and was about to PWN it's N00b.
Thanks for the feedback. I know this widget deserves an update, but for many reasons it's not possible in the near future. I have some initial concepts for a new version, but making it would take literally hundrets of hours of work. What I can promise is that IF there will be a new version it will be a MAJOR update. I'm not interested in releasing SimAquarium under open source licence yet, sorry. But I have nothing against widget modifications as long as people give proper credits to the original author and don't try to sell it or something like that.

And to finish, as a great fan, I join the other fans on this comments page to hope that there will be some inovations some day, as the widget is not evolving since a few months (or years)... Or maybe open the source code to get help from the community? Great work anyway!
The Ram Ciclid are an excellent bet. And they grow really quick. They are a bit weak, but at the rate they grow and breed, you recycle a full aquarium of Ram Cyclids in minutes! You don't even have to feed them! Clown Loaches are a dead end. They do not reproduce more than Dolphins and are worth little. Don't buy them unless you love challenge! Bottlenose Dolphins are hell. You get them one by one, very rarely, so you have great chances that your first one dies before the seconds comes. And their breed rate is microscopic. And they eat A LOT! The green sea turtle is even worse as its longevity is much shorter. But their are more common, so it balances the fact that they breed less when they are more than two!
So to summ up, I would recommend to begin with Guppy, then Cardinal tetra, then wait until Ram Cyclid, and then watch for the fresh water Angelfish. Then maybe try a medium challenge with fighting fishes or Piranhas, and end up with dolphins... [.../...]
I am an old time fan of this widget, which is the only reason why I install Opera on all my computers.
After some study of the strategy guide and some experimentation, I have new data: To choose the best fish to breed, you have to take into account their price (the higher, the better, depending on your current finances), and their breed rate (of course), but also their optimal number: the more they are, the more they breed, as each adult has his own chance to breed every 2 seconds. To be totaly complete, we should take into account the growth rate, wich allows the number of adults to be higher, increasing lightly the total breed rate.

Guppy** The ** mark the "best fishes" of the strategy guide. So, no surprise, the fresh water Angelfish is by far the best fish. But many others are good choices untill you can buy your first couple of fresh water Angelfish. Here is some additional advice : The Goldfish produces a lot of pollution, even with the best filter; So you have to be rather attentive and buy medecine. [.../...
Also the bigger aquariums like the coral and the swiming pool would be cool if the size was relevant, what i mean is that the fish should look smaller in a swiming pool than they do in the standard tank that way you can have more bala sharks for eg. in a c coral than water plants. thant would be cool
I am Going to resize everything so it is a little larger I am then going to make everything cheap, but these two will be seperate so if you want a larger version you don't have to take the cheats with it. Also in the resize I will add lion fish and sharks. Hopefully they'll be accepted .
Firstly im a one day user of opera so i just came across this today and all of today i have played it whilst online. Great widget, but i would like to see thing s added such as mabey a way of identefiyng a order in which ur fish will give g=birth so that if uyou want to sell one ur not selling the one next or second in line to give birth. Also the info button in market is great read up loads on the bala shark and now considering how to go about having some in a tank in my house, lol. But really as usefull as it is i would preffer to see more in game info on the fish like the time each takes to birth and grow etc... Also you should be able to place items in the tank werever u wish them to go, and tail movement from the fish would be nice. Aslo more animated actions for example when you clean the water mabey you can see it happening somehow, the fish being out in a bowl and then the tank emptied of water and then filled again. Whilst were on the water subject it showld when dirty go murky. Last but not least a full screen option or at least some sort of resisng of the window. Many thanks and i hope you realise im not being picky i love the game but im also a great fan of other sim`s
4ever...You might be able to make the bubbles in the background using the old "Raining javascript" it will be reversed (of course) and the character should be changed from the rain , to a more bubblelike "o"
