Big Ben V2.0 Aug 14, 2006 10:05:02 AM

The most famous clock in the world ...on your desktop.

The most famous clock in the world.
Now you can put it on your desktop P:

Version 2.0 changes:
- better and more accurate look
- new awesome "wireframe" skins
- with sound enabled Big Ben sound is played every hour (unfortunately sound doesn't work in a zipped widget, unzip the widget and open config.xml file in Opera if you want to hear it)

Having lived in England for many years, it was a pleasant surprise to find this beautiful widget of Big Ben. So, I downloaded it and everything was fine until I hit the reload and now I have no hands on the clock!!

I have deleted it and downloaded it several times but still no hands!

Any suggestions?
Thanks

I'm afraid the sound files aren't free to use, so I can't add it.

I meant the Big Ben Utility chimes the quarters not just the half hour and the hours!

If you want to install a freeware Big Ben Sound Utility (zip) that chimes the half-hours as well as the hours go to:
http://web.ukonline.co.uk/kpj.jones/contents.html
This software seems to work well, is customizable and does not seem to contain bugs or spyware etc.
By the way, I am not connected in any way with the development of this program.

Widgets run in Opera, so unfortunatelly if you close Opera, widgets are closed too. You can hide Opera instead of closing it (Ctrl+H).

BIB BEN is truly beautiful and I finally, got it to chime. However, when I close Opera, it closes BIG BEN too. Is there a way that it can stay on my desktop all the time?

I opened up and unzipped and the chime is in my Rhapsody file but the clock still doesn't chime.

Good, but no sound in 15:00 for example (check box on/off - not effect!)(WinXP2, Opera 9.20)...

Yes, sxfield is correct.
What you are looking at is St. Steven's clock tower.

Of course, you realize that 'Big Ben' refers to the bell, not the clock.

Request - i think this widget is brilliant. I will be adding this to my favourites. Top notch! My request is, would it be possible to let the clock illuminate at a selected time?

Nice idea, but this thing is freakin' huge on smaller screens.

What a beautiful widget... one day I am going to see the Big Ben in real life! Anyhow... is not there a way for next versions of Opera to fix the sound problem... Unzipping the file and opening it in Opera is not exactly an end-user solution... :frown:
