OpCast Audio Search

This widget searches for internet radio stations on shoutcast.com. If you have ActiveX turned off on windows+winamp or just don't use windows this one might be helpful. Just type in what you are looking for, click on a result (or copy & paste the address in your favourite player). You can also search by genre, get some random stations or get a list of top stations. Some players open the links directly (like Winamp, amaroK,..) on some players you need to extract the url from the returned pls file (like xmms) if you like it complicated .

Changes in 1.4: Minor fixes to make it work in Kestrel Builds (9.5)

Changes in 1.2: Some enhancements (I hope )

Changes in 1.1: Now it sends the results to opera by default. So if you have these files associated the stream will be opened immediately, if not opera will ask you what to do with it and you can choose your player as default application (this behaviour can be deactivated of course)

Please help. I can't get this widget to work with Opera v9.50. It still searches and displays all the streams, but when you click on them it won't launch the specified application (Vlc player for me).

Must have been using a very old version before, but now clicks enqueue in winamp automatically. Thanks for the update!

Hi. The first time I ran the widget on Opera 9.25, I was also busy at phone. May be I pressed automaticaly the enter button without paying atention to what I was being asked but the result is that when I select a station name on the widget, I obtain a page with plain text like this.

I've tried to associate the pls file extension to winamp but it seems I don't succeed. Anybody knows how to manage this? Thanks in advance.

great widget..in fact i was downloading a security-updated ver of REAL PLAYER, and checking out what they have to offer. They do have radio stations, so I went to have a quick look. It is late here 2:45am, and I am tired and cranky... so I just clicked on a talk station - and 'VOILA"..that station started up = BUT NOT IN REAL PLAYER..

YOU GUESSED IT..IT STARTED AND IS STILL PLAYING - 2 HOURS LATER - IN YOUR NEAT WIDGET !!!@

I do wish there was a way to save a playlist.....or I guess I can make a Radio PlayList in REAL PLAYER and use that ??!!

Great Widget! I use it every day. Quick question though. Is it possible to have a Favorites List or something of the sort? It would be nice to have a list of the most used stations, somthing like the top 10 list in opera. I don't know if this is already an option, but I can't find it anywhere. Thanks for your hard work, and for creating this widget. Cheers.

Sorry Odin365 but I can't reproduce it no more. I checked the top500 up and down plus several random stations without any errors... maybe the shoutcast servers behave strange sometimes, I have no clue

The best is to configure opera to automatically open links with winamp.

Help! I love this widget. It was working fine until the other day ... now when I click on the station I want I end up with a webpage that says this:

Everytime you click on a station the widget.openURL()-function is called and AFAIK there is no way to specify a target window for this so a new tab is opened everytime it's called..
So you did nothing wrong.. I will try to find a solution for this
