Screen Ruler V1.7 Jul 4, 2006 8:08:09 PM

Measure pixels on your screen.

A virtual ruler! It's a useful tool for web designers and maybe for others too  Simply click the grid in two places to measure the distance between the points (in pixels). To remove the points, click again. You can create straight lines with Shift key. You have to right click this widget to close it, because it covers the whole screen.

A simpler version of the ruler is included for Linux users, because widgets on Linux have problems with transparency. It will be detected and enabled automatically if you don't use Windows or Mac.

I would love it if you could make a version where you had the grid, except it was only transparent - You could use the mouse normally behind it. Would love support for use of custom images as the transparent thing as well. =o

Nevertheless, very nice widget.

good program but you cant see where the mouse pointer is, could do with the cross being in another colour and one that you can select yourself so you can adapt it to the colour of the page your meauring!!!!!!

It's very good but I had trouble closing it -eventually guessing that CTRL-W would work. Could you make it ESCAPE-able please?

I agree with miblog, about the occasional need for totaling more than one line length (for maps etc). Can you do it please? Or have you done it already?

It'll be better if the pointer is small and more accurate

Helpful, expecially if one developes low-res games and wonders what pixel hight the main character has

I think it would be more usefull if you can mesure more than only from point A to B

For example, over a google map tracking various points A, B, C, D, E - And then giving a clue that point Y to Z is 10 miles, and with that information give you the total A to E point in miles...

(Sorry my english I am from Argentina)

Great widget but. this widget doesn't support dual screen :-(

By MrStrike , # Feb 18, 2008 1:49:33 PM

Nice and useful widget.
Tips for usage with the mouse:
Right click to toggle between "Always on top" and "Always below" to work with your application windows. If it is Always on top you can click anywhere on the screen, if it is Always below you have to click on some visible part of the desktop (maybe you'd have to restore or minimize your application windows).

Usage with keyboard is even easier: Use "Normal" instead of Always on top / Always below and toggle the Widget or the application you want to measure on top with ALT+TAB.

You only have to close the Widget if you want to access the desktop itself or if you don't need the Widget any more.

This is really useful. Now i don't have to open the other on-screen ruler application everytimes i wanted to measure something in a web page. Thank You
