I mostly agree with Odian's comments above... A VERY "unintelligent" game where the comp. takes pieces that ordinarily no SANE person, playinmg in its place, would execute... Suggest you look at the MAC-supplied CHESS programme (a freebie!) which is WAY more intelligent... (Or any of a dozem others...) Good first attempt, though. Just needs refining!

odian, sounds like YOU should be the one writing the widget, then, if you think you can do better. Opera could use a few more widget developers, anyways.

Nice try! But a bad game. AI is completely stupid, for sure, and not even all chess rules apply! Please, study some chess books before trying to make any chess game again.

An "Opera Widget" for playing chess; you may play as single player or two players. Or with the help of artificial intelligence you may watch the computer play with itself...

Love the chess widget...can someone please translate the checkboxes and menus into English (here in the comments would be fine) that way I know if I'm guessing correctly. Thanks!
