Sokoban V1.2 Jun 16, 2006 8:07:49 PM

the classical box pushing game sokoban. push the blue gems to the green spots. remember you can only push boxes, you can't drag them.

-use your arrow key to move around
-press Z to undo a move
-press R to retry a level
-press N to proceed to the next level

-press P to go back one level

it now remembers the last level you were playing

have fun

Nice idea! Finally, a non-action game (unlike tetris). I played a lot of sokoban in the past, and now it's cool to have a replacement!

It's still a bit laggy on my pc. (like some other widgets, too :frown: )

Would it be possible to display some text telling about the shortcut, and the level number?
Maybe this text can be shown when the widget has focus, and disappear if it has not..

Well it is slow, and then kind of ruined it for me. But I'd really like a highscore type of list or something (based on time, number of moves) as well as the indication of which level I'm at.

Otherwise I like the game. I like to think, but thought most were solvable in uner 5 mins.

This will make my day.
I have just finish playing this on my Nokia with a little difficulties.

Thanks and will be waiting for the next levels

Just completed all 58 levels, and have to congratulate you. Nice work! Doesn't seem to be too sluggish to me. And, since I didn't see the 'next level' shortcut and never player KSokoban either, I can attest that all levels are really solvable. Thanks, Holger, keep up the good work!

Btw, the solution for level 8 is: URRDULLDRDRLUURDRDDLURULDLURUL

By kaie, # Jun 24, 2006 10:35:30 PM

The 8th level does seem impossible. I've never played KSokoban.

By skelly, # Jun 24, 2006 7:19:31 PM

well, i took the levels from KSokoban, as i know they are open source, and all
this levels are marked "easy", so there is not much difference in difficulty, yet.
i will probably try to rewrite the game in HTML some time next week .
the next 50 levels are waiting...

By Holger Will, # Jun 23, 2006 8:34:36 AM

Thanks Will,

There seems to be some problem with the difficulty of each level. As the levels progress, some levels are too easy. it just takes like 30 seconds. I got stuck (still didn't finish) 8th level. But, 9th level was like 20 seconds. I wonder if the order of levels is mixed up ??

I only put pure html in my shiz*

By olsen350, # Jun 22, 2006 11:24:03 PM

Regarding speed, i think pur html would be the fastest as Benjamin has mentioned.

By aleto, # Jun 22, 2006 8:21:04 PM

The new vision is just a little bit faster than the old one,I hope to move faster.

hi kitt,
great ideas ! it was a quick fix,so i just uploaded a new version.
thanks

Cool game indeed... How do i goto the previous level ?

Whenever i close the widget, the level is reset to 0. The next time i open the widget, i press 'N' to skip levels to reach the level i was playing. Sometimes, i press 'N' one too many times. How about a shortcut 'P' ?

By kitt, # Jun 22, 2006 7:30:03 AM

mmh, thanks for testing, i think i will try canvas, though i've never used it before, but i hope i can get the game more responsive.
cheers
Holger

I do not notice any substantial increase in speed. I'm not sure about Opera's efficiency with handling images with SVG but if this really is the best you can squeeze out of it you might have to try considering canvas which I know can out perform this or even absolutely positioned DIVs with background images, that I assume would actually run the fastest.

its just to relax a bit :-) (it was supposed to be level 42 thought, something got messed up )

By Holger Will, # Jun 20, 2006 10:46:25 AM

 very nice!

By aleto, # Jun 20, 2006 10:41:03 AM

What's the deal with level 43? Seemed a bit "small" :-)

By virtuelvis, # Jun 19, 2006 8:10:04 PM

hi Benjamin

I know its very slow,i think its because it was done completely in SVG, i've change it, so that for most graphics, i now use pngs, it feels a bit faster i think, but i'm not sure its enough. what do you think ?

By Holger Will, # Jun 19, 2006 3:50:11 PM

Cool chops.
I guess it was only a matter of time before somebody made this.
My only complaint is the laggy feel. I am not sure whether it is because of your event capture management or if it just takes a long time to process but it needs to be far more responsive.
A fun game indeed.
