Awesome...I'm usually not much of a tetris fan, but this is certainly fun.

Using Opera Kestrel I can't start playing. The 'Welcome to Torus' window opens, but I don't see a way to start the game.

Tetris is always my favorite game and this one is another cool one. Very nice made

I tend to think of rotating the cylinder with my hands. When I drag my hand left (left arrow key) on the cylinder, the surface of the cylinder should intuitively pan from right to left from where i see it. Seeing from above it would mean the cylinder rotates clockwise. And similarly for right. Perhaps an option for this more intuitive (for me at least) control?

But the game rocks anyway. And you are a genius! Thanks!

I really like circular tetris, thanks a lot Benjamin. however, when i depress the down arrow to accelerate the process of blocks falling down sometimes this action is also carried forward to the blocks which follow even when i've released the down arrow and so all blocks fall on the circle real fast and there's no way to control that after it happens. is that a bug?

Really good fun. Thank you

I just randomly checked this page and noticed the update. Opera should have built in an update engine in each widget when it is run, as part of the specs for a widget, to solve this updating problem. That'd relieve widget developers of having to add in code to check for updates, which I have found to not work for the widgets that have implemented it. Anyways, thanks. I look forward to trying out this new version. It's my favorite widget.

I think there haven't been many downloads (and therefore comments) because I didnt change the thumbnail image of the widget so its not so clear that its been updated.

I wanted to make garbage mode difficult, though I have finished it several times, it just takes practice, my best strategy seems to be focusing on the top-most line at all times, if a gap opens up and you can drop a piece to the bottom it usually works out better if you dont.

With the faded out blocks on garbage, one reason was because the blocks are all grey and having a visible back would make it look cluttered and confusing. Another was to change the dynamics of the mode slightly to the others.

Perhaps a better descriptor for "skin" would have been "base skin", anyway it was just to make it look a little different when you get bored of the old one. Changing the style of the blocks is a promising idea but using textures makes it run alot slower on most machines.

I always script my own animations, I prefer it that way as I have far more control over it, and am glad that you can notice the difference.

Thanks rechenkoenig!

Very nice additions, Benjamin. Quite strange that there aren't any comments yet...
The different playing modes are a nice idea, though i seem to be too slow for succeeding in the garbage mode. It's hard to find a place for a part when you don't see the rear of your tower because it's faded out.
You seem to get the animations quite right, other widgets often show them disruptet. Do you use that official Opera animation library?
The skin feature does't make much sense to me right now as there's not much of a change except for the color of the base. Perhaps other colors or textures for the blocks would make up for a skin, as long as the game keeps being playable with tiger-striped and leopard-dotted blocks...;)

Thanks for your fine work!

Wolfgang

Excelent widget, just fantastic! If you can turn it into a standalone app and a java game for cellphones that would be great! Extremelly addicting!

By Actresspt, # Nov 23, 2006 11:09:25 AM

Can you add scoring and maybe a timer?

By me27, # Nov 4, 2006 4:12:50 PM

I cant believe this! Nice tetris game, and it's in a browser.
Without widgets Opera was great, but now... omg, is so fantastic!

By emilio721, # Oct 9, 2006 6:35:23 PM

"dito" on the Java for mobiles... addictive!
It took a little getting used to but the placement is easy after that first game. I get bored with games fast. It should speed up after awhile or maybe get taller and taller... something. Great widget! Great twist on tetris!
