Alternate way of getting this widget functional:
Open up the zip file containing the widget. There will be two folders there, one version for Mac, and one for Windows. Inside the Windows tinyURL folder, there will be all the files needed to run the widget. Simply zip these together, put it in the main widget folder, and call the package whatever you want. Then drag and drop the zip onto your Opera window. Voila, a working version.

Have not tried this for the Mac version.

The last update to this widget was in 2006 (same for URLzipper widget). I can attest that at one time both of these widgets worked but it appears that neither is currently functional. I hope that someone with stronger programming skills than I have either fixes one of these or builds a new one that works in the current version of Opera.

This widget won't starup in Opera. What's the point if you have to download it everytime to use it? Might as well use a free url shortening web site to do that.

tryied to downloaded 10 times but giving some problem, can not be downloaded

http://metamark.net/ - it's better and has a shorter url name and stats and stuff.
Thanks in advance.

THis is a supurb widget however as many above have indicated you need to download it everytime you want to use it. This does not make sense. I use Opera 9.21 on Windows XP

By zbouji, # Sep 4, 2007 3:04:29 PM

gracias..funciona en winxp sp2

By Jujenio, # Jul 5, 2007 3:14:45 PM

Running Opera 9.21 in Ubuntu Linux. I have to reload the widget every single time I want to use it. Very irritating. If you could fix this, it would be great. If you try to start Opera again with the widget up at the time of close, when Opera opens again it has a mostly blank screen.

It works great in opera 9.20,I did notice that the widget "disappeared" when I used it and thought I had to redownload it but nope,it was just minimized to my WinXP task bar.

I am also having the same problem with having to download the widget every time I would like to use it!

Where is the author I see he/she has not responded to Zacknafain.

Thanks Moonlight - Glad to hear I am not the only one with this problem - where is it at with this one? This seems to be the only widget suffering from this - at least of the widgets I have at present ....

By Zacknafain, # Apr 23, 2007 7:04:54 PM

I also can't get it to work in Opera 9.10; have to re-download it everytime I want to use it.

Bug report:

ACTUAL URL
http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?c=L_Product_C2&childpagename=US%2FLayout&cid=1123638179676&pagename=Linksys%2FCommon%2FVisitorWrapper

TINY URLED USING OPERA WIDGIT
http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?c=L_Product_C2&childpagename=US%252FLayout&cid=1123638179676&pagename=Linksys%252FCommon%252FVisitorWrapper%20%20

You can see that the character % has been incorrectly replaced by the string "%25".

This breaks the target URL. The TinyURL website does not suffer from this problem.

hth,
Daniel
