I've just started getting "Error - failed to check for updates" message every time I start the widget, I remember this was a problem a while back and I un-installed it.
Snire, I can only assume that Accuweather managed to end up with a dodgy banner-ad on their site as I haven't ever seen this myself and couldn't find any corroborating data from Google.
Unfortunately, I cannot control the content of other sites but I can assure you that the widget is spyware-free.
Uh, yeah. That would be my fault. It's the check for new versions that was failing. My server has been having problems with another process chewing up all the memory. Hopefully should be fixed.
trifles: 1) on the right edge of the screen maximization gives the control buttons out of reach. I have to pull it right 2) The name of nearest station is not always the name of place I'd like to edit it.
I do enjoy this widget and find it useful. I do have a problem with it. I can see a very small part of the top of the 4th day and thats it.
Was not this way in previous versions. I live in america. The best way to describe it is the window for viewing the forcast needs to be made bigger. Tried to drag the edges to make it bigger but unable to. Deleted and reinstalled. Same issue. Any ideas??
Known problem, I'm sad to say - although this will be getting a fix because I get the same problem! The Ubuntu desktop seems to want to prevent windows going off the edge of the screen - since the invisible 'window' that the widget sits on has to be big enough to fit the fully-expanded size of the drawer as well, it extends far below what you can see when the drawer is closed.
I need to tweak the drawer-opening code to calculate the maximum size of the drawer and set the window height to that size before the drawer opens, and shrink the window again when it closes.
I am using opera on linux(ubuntu edgy), and the weird thing is that the widget window with drawer open/closed or smaller form can be moved only in a small rectange on the screen. My screen res is 1024x768, and the rectange lies only on the upper left side.
Em-driven would be nice, but I don't think the bitmap background would stand up to stretching and squashing quite as nicely. I have considered trying to use SVG as a background (like I did here, but that might be a big heavyweight, and a speed-killer.

sorry, but I think it is not fixed. At least I am still getting the "Error - failed to check for updates" every time I start the widget...

(I have font larger than usual, and lot of texts wrap to multiple lines.)
