The widget is 'supposed' to hold an infinite number of widgets (or however many entries the widgets.dat file is limited to) there seems to be a bug with that. As for schlock mercenary...they use 3 seperate images for sundays! it's insane and pointless at the same time lol. the images have a b and c at the end..should be possible I looked around for a bit at the end of may. In case anybodys wondering i've been busy at school and another widget project to update this...I might get a widget done by the end of next week..actually expect it then. Now that 9 is out of beta I suppose more people will be wanting this. :D

hawkbox: heres the codes for the comics you wanted.
schlockmercenary: http://www.schlockmercenary.com/comics/schlock{lyear}{month}{day}.png
sluggy freelance: http://www.sluggy.com/images/comics/{syear}{month}{day}a.gif

second:how many comics can this widget hold? i keep adding comics and it deletes others...i dont know what thats all about.
lastly: is there any way to get real life comics in there [ http://www.reallifecomics.com ]

Hello, this looks awesome, Im trying to get www.schlockmercenary.com and www.sluggy.com to work in this. They dont seem to have the appropriate setup for this, is it possible to get it working in them?

Hi,
First of all, this widget is AMAZING! Thank you!

I am a fan of webcomics as a genre and I am having trouble figuring out how to use the widget to include the specific comics that I am a fan of ie: elsie hooper, toothpastefordinner, nataliedee, married to the sea, penny arcade, white ninja, sam and fuzzy, the perry bible fellowship etc.

Can you please provide me with some instructions for using your widget to view these comics.

Thank you very much.

JC

How can I add something like http://garfield-daily.ru/e94.jpg , on next day it will be http://garfield-daily.ru/e95.jpg , and so on? Thanks

Very cool. My only complaint is that it's so dark... I can hardly see the text or the buttons.

By Eatcarpet, # Jun 20, 2006 1:50:04 PM

All of those sound like reasonable and easy requests to complete except for the individual settings which would take awhile but still doable...and making it look good lol that's just not my thing  I'll give it a try though. :D

Excellent widget, very well done! Props to you, but I have a few issues -

-As someone previously mentioned, the edit/save multifunction buttons are more annoying than useful imo.

-Custom settings for each comic! This is my main gripe; I added a few comics of my own, penny arcade etc and they are rather large. I managed to get them resized fine, but whenever I check fx. Calvin & Hobbes now, it's way tiny. Am I missing something?

-The Garfield menu is cute, but the arrows are too small for my liking, and I get tired of looking at him . Could we possibly have a normal menu also?

Otherwise, this widget is one of the best there is. I no longer have to browse around for the webcomics! Awesome!

qualbeen - That's because the comic was to wide so the comic automagically put on scroll bars. To make it not you can go and set a limit on the width in the preferences and enable maintain proportions.

cool widget, but i don't like the way those config-buttons change value.
To add a new cartoon, i first have to select an old one, then enter correct adress. After that i type in name and select 'save'. I want it to be in different order: first enter the name, then url. Maybe you can add a button called 'new' or something? It would also be helpful if all commands (like {lyear}, {syear}, {month}, {day}) was typed in the button corner, or something like that..

great widget :D

last: i added http://my.opera.com/community/graphics/pondus/{lyear}/{month}/{day}.gif, and then got scroll-bars. is that because the widget has an non-dynamic width of XXpx? (i'm only wondering)

sorry for my bad english p:

Revolutionary update! Looked exactly like this in my dreams

Getting previous centuries to work shouldn't be a problem...while I'm at it I could see if it works with leap years...I don't think it does lol..

By Tmchenry, # Jun 2, 2006 1:44:24 AM

Hmm what about the past century? like 1978 yr-)
In garfield its .../ga/1978/ga780619.gif
and (say TY 2 this line)
"x=x.replace('{lyear}','20'+syear);"
and now it from future
.../ga/2078/ga780619.gif .

I just noticed some formatting issues in Linux. I'll also fix these in the next update.

By Tmchenry, # May 27, 2006 6:08:49 AM

Thanks :D

I don't know how to do that sort of think malsumis but if you would like to help I would appreciate it if you could message me with msn aim or yahoo.

On a side note...now that preferences actually save it has revealed a problem with the presets loading function that causes several blank entries to be displayed..I'll try and find why it does this you'll probably see an update for it tommorrow.

By Tmchenry, # May 26, 2006 11:42:14 PM

well, if we could just bypass the referrer check(or send them a false one - that we come from the "comicgenesis.com" domain), then it would work I think.

And one more thing: great work. That widget is awesome :]

By malsumis, # May 26, 2006 11:22:46 PM

I believe they use some sort of method to keep people from 'stealing their bandwith'. Each time you load an image from the site you use bandwith. People who load images from the site on other sites (or a widget) will only see a white image because of a utility they have in place to prevent the use of their bandwith.

Nothing we can do about that aside from asking them to take it off or find out if there's some other reason it's not working. And emails are always more convincing when they come from a fan.
