Currency Converter V2.0 Oct 10, 2007 8:13:55 AM

A currency converter that uses data from the IMF.

A Currency Converter that fetches exchange rates from the International Monetary Fund.

The rates used by this widget are not the ones used by your bank or VISA.

I really quite like the widget....performs well and quickly.
The only complaint is that there's no Hong Kong dollars? HKD is a pretty major currency in Asian region...

Also it would be nice to have a "hotlist" of most-used currencies (I think this has been mentioned earlier but I'll just add in my 2c).

This widget needs some improvement. The most important to me is editable list of currencies. Kazakhstan Tenge isn't useful for me, and I know that I will probably never need this. On the other hand, I cannot add for example Czech Koruna. Considering this, Currency Exchange http://widgets.opera.com/widget/4461 is better, but still I cannot add currencies that are not on the list.

well, this should tell the user when the exchange rate is not available, not just freeze - bad UI design...

What's up, yesterday it worked perfectly with 8505 and 8509 - and now its transparent with no currencies to choose?

[Edit]OK, looks like the whole world has to suffer for teh looooooooong 4th of July week-end; seems IMF has gone foreworking ...

A converter with more features is now available at [url]http://widgets.opera.com/widget/4461 (although it's supposedly not as good-looking!)

+1 Update with needed currencies

It might be my imagination, but I think there is a bug in the script: the spreadsheet, at later times in the month, splits into two chunks and repeats the data. This version will be getting half-month-old data!

Yep, Croatian Kuna we need....

By Magi , # Jun 23, 2006 10:49:11 PM

Hello,

would you please mind to add support for Croatian Kuna HRK? (Croatia/Hvratska)

thanks, Thomas

By Thomas0 , # Jun 23, 2006 1:58:08 PM

Conversion both ways please.

Oh, and it defaults to USD / Euro every time. Thats kind of annoying, it must remember some kind of default conversion.

By Immacolata , # Jun 22, 2006 2:59:43 PM

NO SUPPORT FOR CROATIAN KUNA EITHER :frown:

IT WOULD BE NICE TO FLIP BETWEN FROM AND TO AS WELL

OTHERWISE USEFULL 4 STAR, KEEP GOING

By CORBIE , # Jun 21, 2006 12:53:17 PM

Thanks, it very useful.

can you add the `convert from' in addition to `convert to' functionality?!

By tarc , # Jun 21, 2006 4:35:40 AM

you have to wait some seconds and then it works

By babox , # Jun 17, 2006 5:46:39 PM

After reading babox's comment I re-downloaded the widget yesterday and it did work. Great gadget and very useful. Unfortunately when I re-opened Opera today it no longer works. Back to the semi-transparent screen that doesn't allow any input. Re-downloaded it again a few minutes again and once again it works. Seems that if I need to use it it requires a new download for every use - not a very practical solution. :-(

By bobmorris , # Jun 17, 2006 5:26:39 AM

now it works!!!

By babox , # Jun 15, 2006 12:33:47 PM

Unfortunately not working for me either. It appears semi-transparent and doesn't allow you to select currencies or do anything at all. I'm using Beta 9 Build 8414. A great idea if only it would work.

By bobmorris , # Jun 2, 2006 8:34:06 AM

Not working. Too transparent and drop downs are not functioning. Pressing return in either textbox opens index file in new tab.

I'm not going to leave feedback on this quiet yet, cause I can see that it used to work and I'll give you the shadow of a doubt that you'll fix it for Build 8414.

I'll take a look at it and see if I can help you out any.

Don't work. it show up transparently. not work

By gaoyiwei , # May 20, 2006 4:28:14 AM

It is not transparent skin... Something either with how Opera works with Java or bug in scripts... I've extracted this widget and deleated everything about opacity - now it isn't transperent, but it is still unusable.
Please, somebody with knowledge of javascript - fix it.
P.S. It is just HTML page with 2 .js files and one css.
