Widget Builder, Opera application V1.4 Aug 17, 2010 1:06:58 PM

Build widget in one step!

Tool for everyone who want to easily start widgets creation.

Recently we've released Widget Builder, a new tool which can improve widgets development process.

With Widget Builder you can easily create, manage and build Opera widgets.

Main functionality:

  • Creating new widget project with recommended file structure.

  • Editing easily widget's configuration without knowledge config.xml structure.

  • Building .wgt (widget) file by clicking just one button. After build widget is available in build directory.

If you use additional tool to create widgets, you can click “minimize” icon in the top-right corner and widget will turn into minimized mode.

In minimized mode there is only build button visible. If you change widget visibility to always on top you will be able to easily rebuild your widget with just one click.

You can use keyboard shortcuts to manage project:

  • Ctrl + n Create new project
  • Ctrl + o Open existing project
  • Ctrl + s Save current configuration (in config.xml view)
  • Ctrl + b Build widget

Widget Builder is at early stage of development, so feel free to ask questions and bring new ideas.

Does not work at 11.51. I do not know where to place the JavaScript.

Doesn't work in Opera 11.11:
«Validating JavaScript files: TypeError: 'file.readContent' is not a function»
Config.xml shown as empty while it doesn't.
Looks like something is broken in latest Opera version.

Nice and useful widget.
Just a little problem: It can not build project if no icon (in config.xml) set.

I loved it! It really is a very interesting widget, although a bit difficult to be able to use at first. Congratulations.
