Tea Timer: A small widget for tea lovers.

Tea Timer counts down the steeping time of your tea. Just set the time, pour the water into the cup and start the countdown. Say goodbye to oversteeped tea

Main idea:
Keep it simple, keep it neat.

Controls:
Doubleclick, Space: start/stop countdown
S: Set steeping time of your tea
P: Choose of four preset times (0:40, 1:30, 3:00, 4:00)
R: Reset countdown
Esc: Exit settings/presets menu

Much too small! I can barely read this. I love it and its concept...but make it bigger, please. Or at least make a visually-accessible version for me. I prefer to be able to resize my widgets using good ol' ctrl++.

Opera 9.5 [build 10051], Tea Timer unzipped as per DarkWorms' suggestion.

It now loads correctly upon re-starting Opera [though the work-arund is needed], but the sound is gone. This does not completely defeat the purpose of the widget, still, makes it less useful since you have to stare at the timer ...

- your (unmodified) widget also survives if it is unpacked.

So, everybody (at least the linux users

) :
- Launch the widget as usual.
- find the widget directory where the TeaTimer_6897_1.96.zip is
- unpack the TeaTimer_6897_1.96.zip file to somewhere else
- in Opera, click "File" -> "Open"
- set the Filetype to XML and select the config.xml file from the freshly created directory
done.

On the hand

without being fixed one needs to download it over and over again - so it should be the best candidate for the "most downloaded widget"

Therefore, sorry for posting a workaround

This is the best timer widget I know of, by far: Small (in terms of screen space), easy to use (predefined times AND settable time AND it remembers the last time

I cannot imagine any improvement in this area)

That said, I have a suggestion: Could you make it flash for a few seconds after the timer reaches 0:00, as an addition and alternative to the ping sound? Like, toggle between normal and inverse colors about twice per second until clicked.

And I have the same issue as Evo2Me

(I'm using Opera 9.25 on linux only i that's a hint. I stopped testing 9.5...)

I've been a little busy lately, so I couldn't fix that annoying bug. Maybe that issue is gonna be fixed in Opera 9.5 (anyone using betas?), but I'll try to find a solution for "all" users.

There are two options now: tedious install or repeating downloads. Both ways are very bad, so I'll try to find third one

I really like your tea timer, as a widget and with your additions it is a much better choice than the original full program, but cannot really use it due to the fact that I'd have to download everytime I want to use it [after re-opening Opera] anew.

Not to mention that your version is in English, which I do read, write and understand, while my Czech is rather limited.

Any reason this widget will not load?

When I download it, it works well. After closing Opera and opening it again the widget will not load. This is directly opening it by double-clicking [or Enter'ing] or opening it automatically through a saved session.

You should be able to play the sound in the widget without even unzipping it like that if you use the Audio object and a base64 encoded data URL with the audio data.

something like

var sound = new Audio('data:audio/wav;base64,<base64-data-goes-here>');

I'm not 100% sure that the MIME type is audio/wav, so you'll need to research that a bit.

Hi, at first I wanted to explain everything, but then i decided to fix problems and add some features

I've fixed the "doubleclick-shortcuts-enabling" bug and added the settings remembering. I've added two very small buttons for entering menus without keyboard (first I didn't want any buttons, but Opera demanded at least close button), try which does what

I've changed the alert sound to more natural and pleasing sound (you can check it here: http://freesound.iua.upf.edu/samplesViewSingle.php?id=12684 ), but the mute widgets opera issue remains (see above) - I've sent a bug report and hope it gets fixed soon.

I'm having some troubles with the keyboard shortcuts. After I switch to another window, the keyboard shortcuts will only work if I click on the widget twice (dbl-click or two single clicks). It works perfectly when set to "Always on Top" mode though.

Other than that, nice! BTW, perhaps a config button so it can be used without having to remember which keys do what? Also, able to keep the last timer used when restarting?
