Match the bottom picture to the top picture. Click on a panel to turn over the surrounding panels.

If you have a Nintendo DS, you might also want to take a look at my version of this game for the Nintendo DS browser.

Just some visual enhancements.

My personal high score is 613. It shouldn't be too hard to beat.

@Benjamin Joffe: Sorry it took so long. I decided to not go with any hover effects - I didn't think they looked any good. But I set the cursor to 'hand', and have animated the panels flipping over, in this new version.
I have no idea why the widget didn't work for you. I haven't experienced this myself, or found any bugs.

@Benjamin Joffe: Sorry for my late response! Your suggestions are good. I experimented with some hover effects on the squares before I made the first version, and also a bit after that. I haven't really found anything that I think looks very good, but I'll see what I can do. The animation of the squares flipping over, shouldn't be too hard. I'll try to get it done soon, then upload a new version.

@slim1970: I'm happy that you liked the game. Some credits should go to Nintendo. I think it was they who came up with the idea.

@ycc2106: There is (has always been) a way to do this. But I've decided to not tell anyone what it is

(ok. You can just press the N button on the keyboard to jump to the next level.) Your highscore won't register, though, if you cheat this way.

It's an interessting game, I wish we could jump to higher level directly.
Could that be possible?

Ok I understand it now. It is easy on the first couple but they get harder. Clicking on one in the middle is going to change that one plus the 8 around it, so you have to know which square to click on to get the right ones to change color. Now I like this game. Thanks

@rkm: it seems to not actually be working for me any more, perhaps this is a bug and will explain why several people here are confused.

In any case, I suggest you implement a few changes to make it more clear and usable.

1. Add a hover-class to the squares that can be clicked to change their background-color or border-color, also set their cursor as pointer.

2. Animate the squares flipping over, either by some clever div size-changing or by just fading from one colour to the next, this way it would be very clear that the squares are changing rather than moving.

If they blink red you have clicked on the wrong one

I realize the instructions given above is not very clear.

When you click on a square (panel), that square and the squares that directly surround it, will change their colour. F.ex. if one of the squares is white, that will become green. If it's green, it will become white. Every click will change the colour of 4 (if you click on a square in a corner), 6 (if you click on a square along one of the edges, but not in a corner) or 9 (if you click on any other square) squares. The tricky part is figuring out which square to click on to make the picture match the upper picture. For the first three levels this shouldn't be too hard, as they are solved in just one click (turn). As you progress it becomes harder, as often more clicks (turns) are necessary to make them match.

I still don't understand what happens when I click on the panels on the bottom one. I click on a space and a bunch of them blink red. Am I supposed to be clicking on the white panels or onthe green ones? I know I am supposed to make the bottom look like the top but I still can't understand how clicking on them turns them over or inverts them. They just look like they move around and blink red. LOL I must be really slow cause I can't get this one. LOL

@ktj: You cannot do anything with the top picture. You're supposed to make the bottom picture look like the top picture, by clicking on the panels in the bottom picture.

Well, i must be really dumb, but whatever i do on the top panel, nothing changes...it just stays white for me. deleting this.

Hmm... seems somewhat familiar.

I liked it for a while, but I suck at all puzzles that aren't Teris, and have a very short attentio...

You're right - "invert" would be better. But perhaps in a later version I will animate the panels, so that they look like they turn around. I'm not completely satisfied with how this widget looks yet.
