Track MyOpera visitors
This widget is no longer supported and doesn’t work properly.
About
Watch the skies^W stats for far-off visitors if you have a HitsLink tracking account. If you don't, just use the demo account.
Depending on your visitor, the following information should be available: Last Access (timestamp), IP Address, Visitor ID (HitsLink), From Domain (IP's host name), Organization (owning the IP), Referred By (where the user came from), Visit Number, Last Visit (timestamp), Browser Version, Platform Name, System Language, Script Version, Resolution, Palette, Java Support, Cookie Support, Profile (if the visitor is an OperaCommunity/HitsLink user and both of you opted to be tracked), City, Region, Country.
For security reasons, the widget uses your HitsLink ID, and not your username/password.
Note
Make sure you have cookies set to "Accept only from the site I visit" (in the menu: Tools > Preferences > Advanced > Cookies) and that automatic redirection is enabled (as a global setting: Tools > Preferences > Advanced > Network, or just for www.hitslink.com in its custom preferences). Recommended "Show images" from View > Images.
Features
Most everything is clickable and hoverable. See below for shortcuts.
Main view: map shows visitors' locations, panels show some information in minimalistic form.
Config view, to enter your HitsLink ID (temporary=just a session cookie, permanent=a user cookie, doesn't expire), your timezone offset relative to the setting in your HitsLink setting (zero if you're viewing your own account, 7 if you're EEST viewing the demo account, etc.), and data source (`live` for the current HitsLink visitor report, or `stored` if you saved one)
Help view: step by step instructions on how to find your HitsLink ID or select the demo one.
Visitor information view: data organised in a little table. If the user's IP hasn't been localized, choose [RESOLVE] to search for their city (uses information from hostip.info), correct the data (click the `Geo` row, hostip.info will get better because of this), or click to manually find the location using dnsstuff.com (has map) or ip2location.com (limited free searches per day)
Statistics view: Choose [EXPORT] to see the visitor analysis as a HTML page in a separate tab
F5, R = reload widget
CTRL+TAB/Flip button = flip the widget (default = configuration side)
ESC = stop loading/searching
`,1,2,3,4,5,6 = "hover" the corresponding panel on the Main view
Home,End,PageUp,PageDown,arrows,mouse scroll wheel = navigate the visitor list
V = view search (see what the visitor searched for to land on your site)
G = go to search (same)
CTRL+I = view visitor info inside the widget
I = view more visitor info on HitsLink.com
F = toggle flag mode (profile/country/world)
S = statistics
You can also use the rest of Opera's keyboard shortcuts (can't seem to disable 7,8,+,-,v)
Known issues
Security: since the username/password is linked to your OperaCommunity account, it is considered sensitive. Using your temporary HitsLink ID is recommended. The permanent ID is more sensitive than your password, as it appears it can't be changed, so save it only on computers you own, and when you don't want to enter your ID on every restart.
Flags/countries: HitsLink sends the country name instead of its ISO 3166 code, with little quirks: `Yugoslavia` instead of `Serbia` or `Montenegro`, `Kazakstan` instead of `Kazakhstan` etc. City names are also sometimes transliterated, sometimes translated. What's more, the other IP to location resolvers may have different spellings (`Syria` instead of `Syrian Arab Republic`) or contradict each-other.
Referrers: Are sometimes inaccurate (very frequently for Opera Mini accesses, because of the
