Internet game server permanently offline due to a hard disk failure
No longer broken. Version 2.7 fixes graphical glitches - Ok it's still broken and to be honest I don't know what's wrong with it. If someone wants to fix it, feel free.
New in 2.0! Online play! Just click "Play Online" and you can chat with other players and create/join games.
Other updates include a bit better AI and bug fixes.
2.7: Graphics glitches fixed, playable again. Also fixed bugs in hitchecking which was caused by the same bug as the graphical glitches.
2.6: Teleport works properly again.
2.5b: A problematic bug snuck in on 2.5 - Fixed.
2.5: 2 new weapons, you can now change map generator settings, added "shoot quotes" and explosions and a bugfix.
2.2c: Game width is set to max if your resolution is wide enough + some small fixes. If you have 2.2b, no need to redownload.
2.2b: Fixed AI tanks that still hovered sometimes and added a leave button to online lobby
2.2: Hovering tank bug fixed with a custom hit check - see below for notes
Here's some progress report on the network play: The "lobby" room works quite well. You have a list of people in the lobby and a list of games you can join.
You can create a new game and choose the maximum players (2-8) and give your game a password.
Joining a game works as well and all the players who are in the same game see the same map.
There's not much stuff to add, so let's hope everything will work properly so we can start playing against each other online =)
Weird... I had some similar problems while making the widget, but I thought I got rid of them. I'm quite clueless on what is causing it, except that it seemed to happen when an element went past the widget bounds.
If you have this problem, look into the Error Console (Tools->Advanced->Error Console) and see if there's anything from the widget. Helps if you clear it first and then close the widget and start it again.
I'm now starting work on the network play features and hopefully I can make the game more balanced or such with your feedback.
By the way, there's a hidden network game chatroom option (very ugly) in the game. You need to tweak the sourcecode to enable it (uncomment lines 225-229 in index.html), but it is there
Also, the computer player can be modified by editing ai.js
Details for the weapons: Cannon - Damage: 10 - Explosion Radius: 10 Big Nuke - Damage: 25 - Explosion Radius: 50 Mininuke - Damage: 15 - Explosion Radius: 25
MIRV - Damage: 25 - Explosion Radius: 15 Will explode in the air after 3 seconds and release 4 warheads which have the same damage/radius.
Teleport - Damage: 0 - Explosion Radius: 5 Will move your tank to the point it hits. Be careful though, if you use a very high power, you may end up inside the ground because the projectile will penetrate ground easily as it's very small.
Sand Eater - Damage: 0 - Explosion Radius: 25 You can use this weapon to destroy ground (for example if you teleport yourself inside it)
