lmao comments here. - Do you have proof of this or are you talking out the side of yur neck? I thought so... thank you for the insight - Lots of things happen that God lets happen. some are nice. some would call your congregation a cult. there's a reason for every one of different denominations out there. - Fictional - Do you have proof of this or are you talking out the side of yur neck? I thought so... - giving someone (an average modern American or European person) an interlinear bible without a historical context, lessons in cultural differences, a study of Hebrew and possibly some Aramaic, and at least a couple weeks of lecture from your local Rabbi or otherwise enlightened scholar is just plain stupid. there's a reason the Catholics kept it with the priests for so long.

I prefer the King James version of the Bible and appreciate that it's available here. Thanks!

I'm an American college/university student and my professors would not allow me to use this as a reference for a class I have taken. The King James version is looked upon as being one of the less accurate translations in the United States. For American English translations, the New International Version (NIV) or New American Standard Version (NASV) are looked upon as better choices.

The KJV is a sectarian publication written by bigots. However, I will use it anyway even though I'm agnostic.

Why is a book of fairy tales placed under News?

News is supposed to be NON-fiction, that have happened, not lies that never did.

humanbegin 作 , # 2010/09/26 10:21:52

interesting combination

I selected the News RSS section:
"Widgets » Categories » News "
"Browse widgets by category: News"

And what do I find? A bunch of pornographic, pedophilic fairy tales.

The only good use of a buybull is as toilet paper. It's called the buybull because you have to buy the bull to believe it.

Fantastic! God bless you and please keep on adding verses.

To those going on about / complaining about the KJV of the Bible, the KJV is public domain in the USA and some other places (not here in the UK) and so there is no need for payment. If somebody wants to use other versins then they may have to pay, that is reason one. Reason two, the KJV is widely accepted and even though I personally prefer NKJV and The Message... reason 3, GOD cannot be put in a box, He will not let His book be altered (bar the cults) and makes many versions to speak to individuals. Less theology and more action!

Great widget!

I think that this widget is a good one for people that would be interested in the public domain version of the Bible.

King James is actually a very good translation, but of a corrupt original text. The authoritative version of Scripture at that time was the Vulgate, the Latin Bible. The Old Testament was the translated into Latin from what was called the Septuagint, a Greek translation of the original Hebrew. Erasmus, a 16th century humanist, decided to create a Bible from the best available original sources, so he used the Tanach, the Hebrew Old Testament, and for the New Testament he gathered together as much as he could of the scraps of the Greek New Testament (hundreds of fragments were available at that time. Many, many more have since been discovered.) and for the missing pieces (the passages and, in some cases, nearly entire books for which there was no extant Greek text at the time) he did an interesting thing: he translated the Vulgate (the Latin, which, originally was translated from the Greek) back into Greek. The 1611 KJV, the "authorized version" was then a beautiful Elizabethan translation of: the original Hebrew for the OT and, for the NT, a hodgpode of Greek and Latin which had been translated from Greek which was then retranslated back into Greek. The only thing "authorized" about was that King James put his stamp on it. There are many, many, many more accurate translations (NRSV, NASB, NJB, etc.) a few decent paraphrases (Good News, TEV, etc.) some very interesting loose paraphrases (The Message). After that you have versions of all the translations, including the good (Oxford Annotated, Harper Collins, etc.) and the bad (Serendipity, Left Handers Bible, Husband's Bible, Businessman's/woman's Bible, Bible for People with Big Ears, and other such dreck).
It's a complete potpourri. And what makes it all work is not the accuracy of the translation or the seriousness of the reader, but only the Spirit.

I cannot change the version. I wanted the Good News translation, or the Jerusalem Bible or the New American Bible. Even the Douay Rheims would've been nice. I guess until you change the versions, I am going to go elsewhere. Its hard to find affordable Bible study software that includes Catholic Bibles.
