JuggleMaster, Opera application V1.0 2006/10/06 4:31:24

Learn how to juggle like a pro!

JuggleMaster is a juggling simulator. It comes with a huge number of built-in patterns, so its not neccesary to know how to juggle to use it. It understands the juggling notation "siteswap," which you can use to enter your own patterns.

For more information about JuggleMaster and downloads for other platforms, check out http://jugglemaster.net and http://www.icculus.org/jugglemaster/

PS: New version has speed control and pattern randomization.

Well cool!!

Thanks -

Wow, I've just discovered this and I'm really impressed. I've used other juggling simulators before, but this one's really good. Nice work! The siteswap mode is also handy for dreaming up new tricks.

For a future version (if you're feeling ambitious), you could try and add some passing patterns as well :-)

tarmin 作 , # 2007/04/14 18:02:09

New in version 1.0:

- Speed control
- Pattern randomization function
- Show siteswap on screen
- Firefox, IE7, Safari and Dashboard compatibility

PS: There's no 4 ball cascade. The cascade pattern only works for an odd number of balls. For even number of balls, the basic pattern is called fountain.

curwenx 作 , # 2007/01/31 5:12:30

I am surprised there is no 4-cascade ?? Because I have been trying to learn it :o:)

But this widget is going to be useful, thanks.. (one day I will be able to do all those things P: ..)

Totally awesome! Creative idea man!

salem407i 作 , # 2007/01/23 12:21:38

Awesome,

But I'd second the request for a bit of speed control

stack 作 , # 2006/12/02 3:44:28

ranunculoid, I'll add some speed control for the next version.

Thanks for the great comments everybody.

curwenx 作 , # 2006/10/23 3:28:19

Wow, I love this widget! I just started learning how to juggle two weeks ago, I've got a smooth 3-ball and can do a couple of tricks too:-D. What'd be great would be if there was an option to put it in slow motion in order to help the novice juggler learn some of these tricks. I hope you consider my request as I presume it'd be easy enough to implement and would increase the functionality of this widget for me enormously!

Thanks!

ranunculoid 作 , # 2006/10/21 23:01:32

Very hypnotic! Smooth, easy to use, hundreds of different possibilities to browse through - I love it!

I can see from your site that you've put a lot of work into this project before it reached widget form - it shows in the end result.

johnnysaucepn 作 , # 2006/10/13 10:12:21

Wow... As an amateur juggler myself, I'm quite impressed by this widget. This is an extremely useful learning tool for both novice and expert jugglers.

RenumeratedFrog 作 , # 2006/10/11 12:32:49

padule, your computer is definately not too slow to run the widget. What version of Opera do you use? Also, have you tried running the widget with no open tabs in Opera.

curwenx 作 , # 2006/10/10 7:35:08

the funny thing is that my computer is not slow, is very good if not a top-level one: Athlon 64 bit - 2.2GHz - 2GB RAM.

padule 作 , # 2006/10/09 10:45:25

padule, I don't think there's anything with the widget in particular that will make the speed uneven, but this can happen if your computer is having trouble running it at full speed I guess. Have you tried other widgets that run animations?

The main bottleneck seems to be drawing lines inside the canvas... this seems to be quite slow in Opera (especially when drawing on top of a image like I do in the widget). I hope to find out how to optimize this in a later version. Adding a "use simple background" option might speed things up on slower computers as well.

curwenx 作 , # 2006/10/08 15:13:51

The animation is quite natural, except that JuggleMaster does not mind if two balls crash mid air. Also, unlike all human jugglers, it never makes a mistake.

The siteswap notation it uses is quite popular among mathematically inclined jugglers (but far from all jugglers know about it), also many of the patterns included are quite common. For instance, most jugglers will know how to do the patterns in "3-ball tricks"

curwenx 作 , # 2006/10/08 14:54:28

fenomenal... LOL

paginabrasileira 作 , # 2006/10/08 3:05:21

Do people really juggle like that?

Good first widget, curwenx!

Jadd 作 , # 2006/10/07 12:53:53

That is really quite cool! The animation seems very natural. Makes me tempted to learn how to juggle.
