A simple proof of concept, using X+V in a widget. To get the full use of this widget you will need to be using Opera 9+ on Windows 200 or XP with the voice add on installed: http://www.opera.com/products/desktop/voice/
Clicking on the top right icon will make the widget actually tell you what time it is with VoiceXML.
I did plan on giving this more features, such as text-to-speech reminders, but the Voice XML only works when the widget has focus; and I found no way of automatically giving it focus when it needed it, so the feature was pointless.
The widget background is SVG but can be modified using simple CSS. I've heavily commented the code, so feel free to poke around...
update: 1.01b, fixed error with 'quarter to' voice saying the wrong things...
It is a good idea. Unfortunately, Opera voice cannot speak in background. If we already click the clock widget to foreground, we would have read the time from its face. One way for it to be more useful will be that when we bring it to foreground by Alt-Tab or clicking from the task bar, it would anounce the time once. Then we do not need to read its face or care where the clock is.
Finally a clock with sound that does not require Flashplayer! Great. My only wish is that it had an alarm that will TELL YOU that the alarm is 'ringing'. Keep up the good work!
