Second in the sølvit puzzle series. Don't be fooled by the small board!
The objective is to clear all the white marbles ending with the black marble in the middle again. Move one marble at a time by jumping over another (horizontal and diagonal) which is then removed. The white marbles can't jump over the black marble. Can you Sølvit?

i solved it. one before last move has to end up in front of black dot which has to be on the side. that's all.
After several attempts I can't see how this can be solved. Some Computer programmer is having some fun? The pictures posted below don't show anything, probably they're made up too :-( Less than one white stone is not feasable, taking away the symetrial moves the options of possible moves are limited too. I give up; let me/us know if this is indeed solvable.
Well, I solved it, but it won't show me that I solved it. I use the Opera browser and I end with the black dot in the middle and no matter where I click, it shows the frowny face.
There's a multitude of possible solutions because of the simethry. The bug is that when you solve it and when you don't, you have to make another click to see what happened (the tiled sad smileys or the tiled OK's on a rainbow background). The key is just using your head. Start jumping over the white balls with the black one and go to the sides and back to the center in a circular matter. Once you get a couple of them down, just think ahead a couple of moves and use a couple of white balls jumping over other white balls so that when you continue jumping with the black one to and from the center you end up in the center at the end...
It took me some 10 tries to slove it, and that's just because I was too lazy to try and figure it out on paper first, so I improvized... I'd guess that an averagely intelligent person should be able to solve it..
It must be quite easy to let a computer find a solution for this one; the total number of possible moves is not that big (for a computer that is ) Hopefully I will finish a new puzzle this weekend.
Hi Vincent, My last sentence was not at all a critique, but more a "philosophical" question.
It would be nice to have a possibility to prove that it is possible, or to prove that someone solved it, without disclosing one full solution. I cannot see any simple way to do that.
Anyway, keep on the good work! Waiting for the next puzzles!
P.S.: What I better like is to teach a computer how to solve them for me
Well Alexandere ... because I didn't invent this game myself A friend explained it to me once. But to be honest, I get more fun from programming the game then from solving it you did a great job !!
Hi Vincent, Are you sure it is possible (i.e. can you do it yourself)?
There are a few solutions with the black marble not in the middle, but I cannot see any with your rules.
The (easier) game I know it a 3x3 array of marbles in the middle on a 5x5 board, and the last marble must be in the middle. But there is no black marble. This one has a solution.
@seifip: it IS possbible @ergo: nope, reversi has a 10x10 field, has numerous of black and white marbles ... and is a two-player game, not a puzzle. @joffe: I know, but I can't solve it
I was so sure it was impossible until I realised that you can jump diagonally, you really should have said that.
Possible bug: If on the last move the player has removed all the white balls but still has not won then the losing screen does not display until the board is clicked again.

Hum, how can one prove it is possible without providing one full solution...?
