Simply enter a URL or the nickname of a bookmark, and press enter. Hey presto! Opera loads and displays it in a new tabs. This widget is most useful on top (right-click on the Opera logo and click always on top). Tuck this small widget away in a corner ready for use. Or, you can make it part of your desktop background with always below. 1.5: Removed the extra style to keep it really simple and added the exit button to conform to the widgets style guide.
I like it and am using it, but I think a sleeker appearance would amp this widget to a lot more use.
Some suggestions, if you are open for any are: -Maybe make the text box appear rounded by adding small curves to either side and adding [style="border: 0px;"] to the input textbox tag to make the textbox borders disappear. -also, make the close button very transparent so you can faintly see it until you hover the mouse over it. I would also, fade the Opera banner until it is hovered over to add to the simplistic look. -I would also jazz-up the go button a little, make it a little more stylish.
Now that I've pretty much suggested a small appearance tweak to everything, I must say it is a fantastic idea and gets 5 stars from me. You might consider adding a config window to config the appearance for different styles and tastes.
keep up the great work tho! Simplicity is always great.
I'm not sure I see the relevence. You can just type wherever you wish to go into the address bar after quickly pressing CTL + T to open a new tab. I can't see this one taking up space on my screen.

Remove the opera logo and the close button .The widget can then be made to sit on top of other windows on the title bar .
Make it behave the same way as if you woudl type urls within the address bar . i.e you could type 'g some text' to do a google search
