Wsudoku V1.3 2006/04/19 11:25:01

A sudoku game.
Grid's size can be changed (from 4x4 to a 16x16 table).
Grids are fully generated, so there's basically an infinite number of plays available.
Ability to change themes (not a lot for now).

It was diffucult to change numbers. Would also like a validator of sorts. Also noticed that there were times when all possible numbers all generated errors. Still a cool applet. Thanks

I think that the only down is to not be able to change the difficulty.
About the cheat issue, if you don't want to see the answers, don't click the button. If the others want to do it, that's their problem. I like the Answer button for when I get stucked.

Hi Lesinfox!

I like your program, and would like to pick your brain a bit
I wrote a Sudoku applet in Flash, It is here:
http://www.crazymicrogames.com/sudoku.htm
I found that generating the random grid was the easy part. Deciding on which cells to hide was difficult. I kept getting impossible puzzles or puzzles with more than one solution. After I wrote an algorithm, the puzzles are now fairly easy but I still get some that are not do not have unique solutions.
My questions are:
1. How do you decide which cells to hide?
2. Do you think it is possible to create puzzles with unique solutions without going to the lenght of inserting a sudoku solver in the program that checks each puzzle for more than one possible solution? It would make the program big and slow!
Keep up the good work!!

Is it just me that has the configuration option over the top of thier puzzle?

morghanphoenix 作 , # 2006/11/01 18:17:49

its a good game i enjoy it

operamaniatico 作 , # 2006/10/16 1:56:00

ok, i gave it 4 Stars.
The 5th misses because of creating invalid sudokus (i guess you will fix it someday..) and the strange behaviour with the number selection. But that you included the selection with the keyboard made me give you 4 instead of 3 stars ^^
I Hope you find a way to disable this zooming stuff.

eisteh 作 , # 2006/08/31 23:43:25

version 0.3 brings some improvements:
* Minimalistic design, aimed for an update someday
* Using keys 0-9 now selects the actual number. Warning, because this will still call the default behaviour of Opera (which means that pressing 7 DO select the number 7, but also zoom out)
* The themes now are displayed with a picture
* Some bugs have been removed

STILL:
* Generated grids are NOT genuine, which means they have A solution, but the numbers displayed might NOT be enough to solve it
* Linux issue. I tested it on Ubuntu and it worked. If you experience some difficulties under linux, send me an email at lesinfox (at) free [dot] fr.

SOON:
* Your next comments will highlight some more bugs, i'm quite confident about that p:

I gave you 5 stars because I love Sudoku and I think you did a great job with it! If you make any improvements, that is all the better!

help! I can't get it to work on my Knoppix OS, please make in compatible with Linux.

Round Tetris works great!

but I miss Sudoku with Japanese characters.

* "broke the 10.000 CGI-Objects restriction in winXP"
Well, don't know why.
* "Generates games with more than one solution"...
Yes, this i a known limitation
* "The cell won't accept anything but the right answer"
Click the little arrow at top right to access configuration. Uncheck "Alert on errors" (was first a Javascript file aimed to display an alert window)
* "no themes"
Go to the configuration (see above), click a Theme (not a lot, send me yours and i'll add them) and you can go back to your grid, even if started, with the new theme.
* "Need more kewboard compatability with numbers and arrows"
I don't think playing with arrow is something that could be usefull (but i may be wrong). The keys is something i can try.
* "big white window"
I'm just a little developer  If you hove some design advice, be sure to send me them, i'll gladly try to improve my skill.

lesinfox 作 , # 2006/07/02 10:59:06

nice heh.
but:
-big white window with little playing field.
window supposed to be adjusted to field size
-generator is some kind of laggy a bit
-no themes
could you add theme support?

Sm0ke 作 , # 2006/06/29 11:28:01

sudoku is great, but this widget is weird...

1. it generates invalid sudokus (some sudokus have more than one solution)
2. it does not accept numbers that are incorrect
3. no keyboard support, pretty hard to click the number, then click the cell... big minus to the fun factor!

eisteh 作 , # 2006/06/28 17:04:20

Need more kewboard compatability with numbers and arrows. Also needs a optional cheat or no cheat option anyone can just click everywhere to figure it out. May be a one number cheat for those that need it.

God_Swordsman 作 , # 2006/06/26 9:09:39

@ Pocoyo:
"How do you change the number if it is incorrect?"

you have to activate the blank field at the end of the row with the figures, and then klick into the cell where you want do delete a wrong entry.
this deletes any figures that have been inserted before!

@ ludgekrabs: well, I'm not to convinced of the game as well ...

mikadooh 作 , # 2006/06/23 14:21:53

It's okay, but The cell won't accept anything but the right answer. So I could choose a letter and click every cell and win the game. That makes it too easy, and defeats the purpose of the game.

Judgekrabs 作 , # 2006/06/22 21:42:09

How do you change the number if it is incorrect?
