An interactive, real-time TV guide, designed to be as unobtrusive as possible!
Update: fixed for security model of latest betas.
Current listings for UK, Norway, France and Sweden. Experimental support for the Netherlands and the Czech Republic/Slovakia, please post feedback in the Widgets Forum.
@vinczej, I'm hoping you mean 'awesome', not 'awful'?
It is a generic interface to a shared listings database hosted on my private web server. The only problem is getting hold of data from lots of countries!
In the last weekly the widgets isn't running all the time, if you close the widget. Does this mean that the widgets don't use any prossesor or memory? Then the 100% CPU problem won't be a problem unless you have the widget open all the time. It is anyway great that you fix it.
A new version, minus SVG animation, is due out in a few days, and I'm hoping to add support for a new 'Message of the Day' time notification of changes to the service.
In the meantime, a warning to UK users: in the next couple of days, I'm changing the UK listings grabber to a new custom version that grabs data in 5 mins instead of 2 hours - a benefit for me, but a penalty for you, because you'll need to re-select your favourite channels. Sorry!
Next on my list will be doing the same for the French listings, currently sitting at 3 hours processing time.
I have the same problem. I thought it was a problem with Opera, but when I closed the widget the CPU usage was very much less. I love this widget, but its very sad if it uses that much CPU. I am not sure if it is only this widgets fault or if it is Operas fault as well. I will test with newest weekly now. If this is a fault with the widget I hope you can fix it. I have a Pentium 4, 2,66 Ghz.
And another thing. Can you add an option for sorting the channels I have selected in my own order?
Maybe you are right - everyting is ok, until I click for the first time icon of screen - in this moment, loading indicator is for short time displayed, and cpu load is about 30-40%. Then loading indicator disappear, but cpu load remian ond the level about 30-40%, even if I close widgets and work with Opera... So good luck! My computer: Intel Celeron M 1,5GHz;512MB RAM.
I don't know how fast your machine is, but I suspect the problem is in the tiny SVG animation I use for the 'Loading' indicator. Previous builds of Opera 9 were kind of slow even on a decent machine - although recent ones are better for me, it may still affect some machines. I'm looking to improve this in the next release.
Hello, very usefull widget, but I have problem with CPU load - when I install and set-up this widget, is consumes about 30-50% of CPU capability... TouchtheSky widget works with no problem, Opera CPU load is about 0-3%, but when I install TouchtheScreen, it is not usable... Have you any idea, where it the problem? OS: WinXP SP2, PC: notebook Prestigio Nobile 1520 Thanx! Vojtec
I'd love to do US and Canada listings. However I don't have an XMLTV grabber for Canada specifically (there's no premade one, and writing one is tricky), and the only available US one (which might include Canadian listings) has a very explicitly worded warning against redistributing the data, which is exactly what this widget does.
Honestly, I'm not sure. Retrieving the Italian listings is very, very slow even without the full descriptions, which was messing up retrieving the other channels. I'm still looking at ways to speed up the whole process, it seems to consume an ENORMOUS amount of memory building up the listings...

But would be very useful and friendly, if would be any "interface" to apply any TV or Radio programs from any countries to this nice widget.

Sadly, I'll have to give this one a miss -- particularly in this hot weather!
